This wasn't an apology.Saying he "didn't mean to offend" is not the same thing as an apology. If he felt he said something wrong he should have stated that and said he was sorry for it.If he didn't feel he said anything wrong then tweeting this makes him a hypocrite caving to pressure.

@Wallace1 @nyny6464 Stating that he'll never be as good at it as Brodeur or Smith pretty much confirms that natural ability DOES have a fair amount to do with it,since no one works harder at his craft than Hank does.If he were in his 1st or 2nd year that would be one thing, but this is his 8th season.Do you really expect him to improve at it significantly at this point? In any case,he's already won a Vezina regardless,so we shouldn't be too greedy.

@Wallace1 I agree that Hank has always been weak handling the puck, but in general he already works as hard in practice as any player in the league,he's famous for it,so if he hasn't improved by now he's never going to.
One thing that this demonstrates is the disadvantage of playing in the conference that will have two extra teams. The Islanders, for all their hard work and improvement over the last half of the season,do not make the playoffs in this scenario. If that were us we'd all be majorly pissed off.

Interesting that with this win,and if you add the 3 OTL to their loss column, then the Rangers are perfectly even at 16-16 with exactly the same number of goals scored as allowed. It's as if they're starting from scratch now, maybe they can use the opportunity to put the mediocrity behind them and finish strong.

I have to say this...I feel a bit creepy even speculating about who he might be playing for this season on the very day after his wife dies of cancer,it's in really bad taste.I have a pretty strong feeling that Katie Strang hadn't heard the traging news yet when she posted that speculation.

@YimYames18 @fushone @Herman_NYRBlog But the players aren't "depriving clients/consumers"of their services,it's the owners who are doing that. The players would happily step on the ice tomorrow under the terms of the old agreement until a new one was reached,an agreement I might add that the owners happily signed just 8 years ago after major economic concessions by the players. And in those 8 years the NHL has seen record growth.I understand that quite a few of the franchises are still struggling but that is a direct result of owners actions, expanding in non hockey areas, paying exorbitant contracts, etc. And do you think that if the owners eventually get all these new concessions from players that the franchises that are making a profit will lower ticket prices even one cent? You seem to be concerned with how much the players are making rather than how much you as a fan are paying and why.

I don't think Brooks put anything "to rest" here.He doesn't explain why the Rangers wouldn't even consider playing Redden if he were to count against the cap anyway.
2 years, 2 months ago on Redden Won't Be Added to Rangers Roster
I know it's just preseason but where's the offense?I though Nash was supposed to fix that. And do you believe that non-call on Kovalchuk in the 2nd period?I think the NFL replacement refs would have done a better job.

@ThomasBehnke @AnnoyingJoe @TomUrtzNYR Most people here have him on the second line, not the first.Fact is,Cally's outscored Doan each of the last 3 seasons and is considerably younger. And he doesn't deserve a 2nd line slot as least as much if not more than Doan?
2 years, 4 months ago on Rangers Still In Play for Doan | July
If you look at his season game log,Stepan has been pretty much feast or famine in his point production, lets hope with the 2 points tonight he goes on a prolonged feast.Still,he's only 21 and with those points tonight he surpasses his total from last year,so there's clear progress.Speaking of age, with Erixon in for Strallman is this the youngest defense in the Rangers history?I think the 6 of them average out to under 24 years old.

@GrangerBoy I agree with all that. But in you're OP you're suggesting that this 1 trade would make us A)a cup winner this year and,B)suck for 15 years after that.I mean, that kind of ridiculous hyperbole just diminishes the accurate point that we should stick with the system that's gotten us the team we have now.I just think some fans would be a lot less stressed if they were a tad less emotional and a bit more rational.
2 years, 10 months ago on Rangers Could Be Offering Prospect Package for Nash | February
@GrangerBoy I'm actually also against the trade, but you're being really over the top here."Win the cup this year and suck for 15 years"?!C'mon,a lot more went wrong with the Rangers after 97 than 1 'stud-for-prospects' trade.I really think people should calm down a notch about this.Sure,if we make the trade it might deplete the system a bit and make things a bit difficult down the line with the cap,but to assume that it's going to make us terrible again is silly.
It's funny,I was just reading an article concerning this girl and wasn't aware she was dating Richards. The article had to do with her becoming a correspondent on The Daily Show a ways back and that there were people that felt she didn't deserve the gig since she didn't have a real comedy pedigree and was more of a pinup girl for men's magazines.

They now have only 2 games in the next 11 days which is actually their most idle stretch of the season and that includes the Europe trip and the all star break. As hot as they are now I wish they were busier at the moment, not to mention the hockey withdrawal I'll be suffering, but I suppose they should take advantage of this time since they play 24 games in the last 38 days of the season which is as busy a stretch as I can ever remember.

I like Boyle but I really think his goal output last year was an aberration,I really don't think you can expect that from him this year this year and so they'll need to find that offense from other players.Would be happy to be wrong though.

@ScottPilutik I personally hope he scores 600 NHL goals,as long as it's for the Rangers. As far as how highly regarded a prospect he is,it should be pointed out that Hockey's Future has him rated 7.0/C which is not terribly high. But my original point was that whether or not he makes it with the big club, one shouldn't assume NHL success based on AHL success and I cited Dawes as an example based on their similar physical stature.
3 years, 2 months ago on Zuccarello Shines in Whale Season Debut | October
Even if MZA lights it up at Hartford I think that before one gets too excited they should keep in mind the example of Nigel Dawes, another diminutive player with good offensive potential who always did well in the AHL. In Dawes last stint at Hartford in 07/08 he scored 34 points in 20 games, yet has since failed to deliver significantly with any NHL club.
That may be,but there were only 3 games there that have ever really mattered and we won 2 of them.
3 years, 2 months ago on Rangers Haven't Won in Vancouver in a Long Time | October
There's been a lot of mention of their difficult early schedule with their Europe and Western Canada trips, but at least they get a lot of rest early on with only 10 games in October and 11 in November. But because of all that early rest they actually have 17 games in March and 4 in the first 7 days in April, making it 21 games in the last 38 days of the regular season!Hope they're not exhausted going into the playoffs.

@KevinDeLury One of the few advantages to having a salary cap in place is that it can protect Sather from himself in that regard. At this point they wouldn't really be able to trade inexpensive prospects for a more expensive established veteran, not if they want to put a full team on the ice,the math just doesn't work. They'd have to be able to dump a veteran salary on a trading partner along with the prospect(s) for it to work and I don't see that happening.

Actually, just noticed that Marchant retired last month,so that does make Kovy the last active player from 93-94
3 years, 4 months ago on Former Rangers Headed to Europe | July
I was all set to say that Kovalev was the last active player to play for that 93-94 cup winning team but I forgot that Todd Marchant actually played in 4 games for the Rangers that season before they traded him to Edmonton for MacTavish(how many people remembered that!)Still,Kovalev was the last active player to actually win the cup with them, and a major playoff performer at that,so it's a bit of a bittersweet day with the last link being gone for good.
Definitely Beukeboom over Girardi, for that matter Beukeboom over Staal at this point, although in a few years it will probably be Staal over Beuk. @EvanSzymkowicz

Just having a quick glance at it and without giving it much thought I would say that your most egregious non-inclusion is Brad Park.Park was second only to Orr as a defensemen during his peak years and CERTAINLY deserves to be there....
