@shoot_the_goalie @Ranger Dave @Bueller @IcyCup Fine by me. No way he signs with Tampa.

@DPSnotty @MikeBlue Snow's job is to convince the owner when his decisions are bad for the team, that his decisions are bad for the team. I see your point though so Snow is either an idiot or he has no balls. I don't like either of those options.
@DPSnotty @MikeBlue I made that comment earlier today. Had one of the elite scoring lines in hockey, screwed it up and lost top draft picks. That dude is the worst GM. So sad that he makes Slather look like a genius.
@shoot_the_goalie @Ranger Dave @Bueller @IcyCup Only time will tell.
@Bueller @shoot_the_goalie @IcyCup We could be setting a precedent here.
@Bueller @shoot_the_goalie @Ranger Dave @IcyCup DOPE!
@shoot_the_goalie @Ranger Dave @IcyCup Sounds good. Its not technically gambling because we are going to make a donation and neither of us get any money.
@MikeBlue @Ranger Dave @JamesU He never said that
@MikeBlue @Ranger Dave @JamesU and fairy tale doesn't have a hyphen
@MikeBlue @Ranger Dave @JamesU learn to spell intelligent too.
@MikeBlue @Ranger Dave @JamesU Start with yourself than buddy.
@MikeBlue @KreiderisTheChosenOne I would call that a streak Mike. I think you are a Flyer Fan.
@GiveGartneraCup Nice point. Nice point. And we have problems at center.
@MikeBlue @JamesU @Ranger Dave DUDE you get off. Negative Nancy LOL. Nobody like a hater. Play nice.
@shoot_the_goalie @Ranger Dave @IcyCup I am in for that friendly wager - great idea! totally into it. I will even give you an exception for a serious injury. No broken bones, but like a torn ACL or something like that.
@JamesU @Ranger Dave Agree - Agree - Agree
@MikeBlue @Ranger Dave @JamesU He will be gone in a few years anyway. He is doing anything to win a cup now so that he can walk away as a winner. But he won't be around past the 2016-17 season when we will have absolutely no prospects.
@shoot_the_goalie @calithirteen @IcyCup Really? Which team and GM do you think is going to offer that kind of money to Callahan? Buffalo will probably offer more than most and I see that at 6 by 6 with NTC. I see teams with caps space, but those teams never spend to the limit and are never contenders.
@MikeBlue @JamesU Sather is not gonna be around for the future - he wants a cup and then he will retire
@gravey94 @Ranger Dave I here you Gravey. What are your thoughts on JT Miller as third line center? Or is he not an option.
@shoot_the_goalie @calithirteen @IcyCup any GM who gives him that type of contract is going to take a ton of heat and will seriously hinder his chances of winning a Stanley Cup during that time
@shoot_the_goalie @IcyCup Wrong. Cally will not get more than 6 mil for six. maybe gets 5.8 per seven - but that GM should be fired.
@DPSnotty @calithirteen Props to Boomer - I hate Carton. He is a dick and should care more about hockey but was dropped on his head too many times as an adult.
@JamesU I think also that Sather specifically was not going to trade Callahan to a super strong contender. Why would you do that if your captain was totally blackmailing you into giving him an excessive contract.
@johnnyb3910 @Ranger Dave @gravey94 I did forget about the extension - However i was merely seeking clarification on the comment about wanting Bieksa or Orpik. Right now we have Staal, Girardi, McD, would we be able to handle a n Orpik contract too?
@mando24179 I here you.
1 year ago on Maple Leafs 3, Rangers 2, OT
@TomDundie @mando24179 Tom - Just a note. I love your comments. I just rarely read them because they take to long to translate back into english.
@shoot_the_goalie @gravey94 @Ranger Dave Not really since they are looking at a Cup run this season. It is def worth the risk IMO
@gravey94 @shoot_the_goalie @Ranger Dave They have a ton of money invested in Letang and their top six forwards. Plus Paul Martin and Fleury are each 5 mill a piece. So they may have to let Orpik go. But then again they could make it work -I think it depends on how long of a contract he will seek
@IcyCup @Ranger Dave Sorry - I meant the market for STASNY would be CRAZY
@gravey94 @Ranger Dave I like what you are saying. I was speaking sort of ideally and seeing what other fans thought. So really we are looking at Our top six forwards being
Kreider, Stepan, Nash
Zuccs, Brassard, St. Louis
So lets go with the Bolland thing for line 3. I assume this means a Richards buyout or trading Brassard or Stepan. Which would you prefer?
Hagelin, Bolland, Pouliot
Dorsett, Boyle, Carcillo
Does Boyle get re-signed? Big guy but a softy, very inconsistent.
Defense - I assume you let Girardi walk if you want an upgrade on Defense.
That means we are looking at
Staal, McD, Klein, Diaz, Stralman
Who would be your preference. Would a guy like Orpik leave such a great team? How do you get Bieksa? Who would we trade?
@IcyCup @Ranger Dave CRAZY
@Bueller @Ranger Dave Options?
@IcyCup @Ranger Dave SPECIFIED
@KevinTheNYRBlog @1HockeyNut Callahan will get less on the free market than Sather was offering and the biggest deal will come from Buffalo. Maybe 6 million. Maybe. No way I am spending that money on Callahan.
@Bueller I agree that Stamkos gets the C pretty quickly.
I understand some fans are talking about resigning Callahan in the offseason despite all this. My one question to them would be this - Do you really want to spend 5.5 million or 6 million on Ryan Callahan now that you don't have to. The trade is done. Callahan will get a solid offer from Buffalo, no doubt in my mind that is where he ends up. Right now we have St. Louis and Rick Nash as our top two RW. We don't need a 5-6 million per year third line right winger. (I think Cally when he is healthy is a solid #2 RW by the way, but not on our current depth chart). That money needs to go to one of two things - a true - in his prime top line center or a #1 pairing defensemen.
I think the number one center is the most important thing right now.
Which leaves us with a wide open debate as to how we get there.
Personally I would rather have Stasny at 6.5 or 7 per year than Callahan at 5.5-6.5 because we need a number one center. The other option would be a trade for Kesler who is at a 5.5 mil cap hit for the next two years.
@johnnyb3910 @shoot_the_goalie @Ranger Dave @Bring back Langdon I agree with you. I was waiting for someone to bring up the Kesler option as I believe he is the best fit. So lets assume Vancouver would make a trade. What would they want back?
2. Fast or Lindberg
3. Pick?I don't see a pick working now. We don't have the high picks to offer them.
I think they would want a second prospect or someone like Klein.
If you are the Vancouver GM are you gonna make that trade? I want Stepan, Hagelin and Fast or Lindberg. The problem is Vancouver is too stacked of a team to really go into a full rebuild. So they want NHL ready players. They want depth.
@fs2020 @Ranger Dave
Rangers are 19th in goals per game with 2.54. They are 11th in goals against per game with 2.51. The answer is not giving up less goals. It is absolutely to score more.
@mando24179 Problem with O'Reilly is he is an RFA not an UFA and we don't have the picks for him anymore. So we could not do a qualifying offer. It would have to be a trade with the Avalanche. Which would be really tough. They like him and are probably going to let Stasny walk to re-sign him. The trade offer would be close to crippling for many teams. It would have to be Stepan, Hagelin, and a prospect at the least. Maybe a d-man instead of Hagelin or both.
@mando24179 Easy Mando...lol
@mando24179 There is no question that Stepan has serious talent. I don't know what is going on with his development (other than the fact that there does not seem to be any). My point about the Rangers is that they need a big solid center who can produce offensively. Stepan, Richards and Brassard are all second line centers for me. We need a top line guy and a third line guy.
So option 1 - You trade Stepan and Brassard and keep Richards as your number two. In return you need to get an elite center. So maybe you have to throw in Fast or Lindberg or Hags. JT Miller slots in as your perfect number three center.
@shoot_the_goalie @Ranger Dave But honestly. The Isles will miss the playoffs again, and with them moving to Brooklyn there will be a lot more pressure for them to win. Snow has to go now. BTW I hate the Islanders
@KLorNYR Playing Nash on the left is not ideal. St. Louis has to be on the right side
@fs2020 @dsclaw88 Yeah - I can see that - plus the Olympic break and a coaching change can't help a young center.
@Bring back Langdon @Ranger Dave @mando24179 Its okay. just thought were all Mr. Intensity
@Bring back Langdon @Ranger Dave @mando24179 lmfao - okay than.
@Bring back Langdon @mando24179 Do you yell all the time in real life?
@LGR8 @dsclaw88 @Ranger Dave Good point. That is your third line than. That means Richards has to play with Nash and Kreider.
@mando24179 Stewart is a winger. Like the guy a lot but he is not a center
