On September 11, 2001 I was doing electrical work at the Neville Island Ice Complex, wiring up new locker rooms for an expansion minor league hockey team called the Pittsburgh Forge. Myself and other tradesmen heard the attacks on the Howard Stern show and we all went out to the lobby to see the tv reports. Coming out shortly behind us were most of the Pittsburgh Penguins who were still using Neville Island as a practice facility. Even though were surrounded by 66 and the team no one cared, everyone was focused on the news. Everyone was concerned, not just the Americans in the building. Before long many of the players ran out of the lobby to get changed, you could hear some of them concerned for friends and family that worked in the buildings. I don't tell this story often cause I don't want people to think I'm proud or something of this story, but for the rest of my life I'll never forget where I was and the people and players who were with me watching 911 unfold.
