I had a hard time watching this one. Not because the Rangers were getting their butts kicked, but because the other team had our captain, best 4th liner and 2nd best defensemen playing for them. Tampa added some grit to their skill. They'll be in the conference finals barring a slew of injuries.

Someone educate me here, why is Brassard slated to earn more than Zucc? Does it just go by years in the league or is position factored into the equation?

Marginally better or the same. As Kevin mentioned and others have echoed, Sather was smart not to overpay for some of our FAs or FAs from other teams. That said, marginally better is not going to cut it if we have cup aspirations. There's still 4 or 5 teams in the West that are better and probably 2-3 teams in the east that are equal or better. Miller, Lindberg and some of the other kids will play a roll, but they're not going to put us past teams like LA, CHI or BOS. Time to get creative or we won't be able to match last year's success.

@Say my Name I agree and deals for vets have to be for at least two years or else the player will not be nearly as invested in the club. Now he's part of the org and not just a one year rental.

@johnnyb3910 I'll admit to being thrown off at first glance.
@johnnyb3910 The Isles actually have the most cap flexibility, but I doubt they'll spend all their available space. The Flyers have proven to be the most creative and aggressive team in terms of trades.
@johnnyb3910 @Chris M @MikeBlue Exactly, that's why I used the word "creative." A combination of young players, trades, etc. to fit everyone in and improve. LA on the other hand has 21 spots filled and still $2.8M to work with. They're set up for sustained success.
@MikeBlue We officially have $23.3M to spend and 12 roster spots to fill ($1.94M per spot). Definitely have to get creative, especially if we want one of those spots to be taken by a $5M per guy.
I expect a ton of turnover on the rangers roster for three reasons: 1) they went to the finals, so players got tons of exposure and will be coveted by other teams, 2) we have a bunch of rosters spots to fill and only so many dollars to fill them, and 3) we have some young guys ready to step in and play.
Great season on the ice and on the blog. We'll be back strong next year.

@AminoRage He's a girl... :-)
CK should have made the same move Brown did on the shortie in game 4.
Is he kidding!!!!
G has nothing left in the tank. Gotta drop him.
Girardi is done.
How the hell is Gabby doing damage down low
I have no nails left. What else should I start biting?
oh my god...
Make the game slow and boring boys. Lull them to sleep.
With they would shut up about Stralman making big bucks.
@Josh-CK Ditto. Amazing playoffs.
Trade Nash for more Boyles and Hags!!!
@DP_Snotty Yes !!!
@JustinRP37 Of course we noticed!!!
Henrik! Henrik! Henrik!
Absolutely huge goal!
Let's go boys!!!!
I was hoping this game would feel more like 1 and 2. It doesn't.
So sloppy, so many turnovers, still not enough passion. Come one guys, this is it!!
I like Nash, I really do. Seems like a good guy and does a lot of things on the ice to make the team better. If he scores, great. But I'm hoping MSL or Brass score, because that means we're in the game. Those guys seems to get most of the clutch/important goals.

Really happy to get the win, but they were severely outplayed tonight...err last night. They sit back and rely on Hank to save the day on Friday and we'll be seeing handshakes and the cup. Richards and Girardi were awful, Nash was MIA on the offensive end and Staal was lackluster. The rest of the team played either decent or really well (Zucc, Stralman, Hank).
@Hotfreak Yep...they're gonna come hard in period 3.
Richards is making bad play after bad play.
…the worst part about going down 3-0 is that it validates all the pundits who didn’t give the Rangers a chance. Pisses me off.
McD has been on the ice for every goal it seems.
Quick is nice and comfy. Not good.
I agree, very well said. I'm definitely smelling the roses, but I really want this sweet scent to last a little longer. If they go out in 4 or 5 it might be hard for me to remember this journey in a year or two. I know that's a cynical way of looking at it, but it's the truth.
That said, the Rangers are gonna pound them into the ice tonight. Enough of this shit. We're going 7 one way or the other.
I hate to beat a dead horse, but Nash needs to make an impact tonight. No more extra passes, no more spin moves, no more disappearing acts. Take that big ass body and make a b-line for the net. Pretend we're playing Columbus. Richards has to up his game as well. The rest of the boys are leaving it all out there.
@HobbitLover78 Hawks for me. The Kings might overwhelm us with physical play. They have 4 relentless lines.

Common sentiment among writers, TV personalities and fans alike is Kings or Hawks in 4 or 5 games. Most give the Rangers absolutely no chance.
I like it....
@pkh33 Lots of factors that go into scheduling.
I can't believe we're playing for the cup....still hasn't sunk in.
5 days of rest. I love it and love the fact that we'll be taking fresh legs on the road to start the series. Don't want to get caught up in the hype a game one at home would bring.
Totally freaking out....plus I won't be able to get home until the second period (first missed playoff period of the season)....plus I forgot my phone at home so I won't be able to follow along....ahhhhhhh!!!!
