Throwing in the towel on Tangradi. I've been an unabashed supporter of the kid, but it's obvious that this either isn't the right system for him, or he's just an AHL lifer ala Alex Grioux.
@RentedMule I read somewhere that with Nash/Semin still available it could drive the price for Ryan down. Obviously I'm no GM, so it remains to be seen.
@Flip True, but the Pens didn't get a top 6 forward. They got a bottom 6 forward, a pick, and a prospect.
The Staal trade is probably the template for a deal. If the Ottawa Sun is to be believed, the Ducks wouldn't want to take a bunch of salary back. If the NHL play HAS to be a 2nd line center, than no, the Pens can't pony up. But if there is some flexibility they could put something together. I feel like a 2nd line center is a little steep for a guy who has publicly said he wants out.
@Jasp That has been his role up to this point. He has earned better than that with his play. CFA played 82 games and had 18 points. Staal played 62 games and had 50 points. No comparison. @Rage
@Rage Those numbers in a year that 87 missed significant time. In a year where Crosby is healthy, Staal won't get 20 minutes. It'll be more like 17 minutes, and mostly checking/PK/2nd PP time. Don't you think he's earned better than that?

The Pens don't need Crosby right now, as much as they need SOMEONE to score goals. 5 goals in the last 4 games, and 1 goal in each of the last three games just isn't going to get it done.
