Exact details of the contest:

The doors are now open for filmmakers to submit their films to be considered for Short Notice’s third season.  Short Notice is set to return with a new awards format, including an Audience Award and a $5,000 Grand Jury Prize.

The Grand Jury will consist of renowned Asian-American celebrities, and established filmmakers/actors that will serve as in-house mentors for future filmmakers.  The Audience Award will be selected entirely by the viewers through an online poll. Short Notice is an hour-long television program on Mnet; featuring today’s hottest AsianAmerican filmmakers and their short films while providing sneak peeks into the creative process.

Short Notice is the first Asian-American short film show, in addition to now being the first ever TV program to do an awards format with short films.  Short Notice is currently featured in 80% of all Asian American households across the U.S.

Short Notice film submissions will be due on March 15, 2012.

Filmmakers can submit their films by mailing in digital versions in the following format to the address below:

• Pro Res (29.97 fps)

• No copyrighted content (music, logos, clips)

• Bleeped profanity

An “Asian-American Short Film” is defined as: A film that features an AsianAmerican lead or cast.  Films that are directed by and/or produced by Asian-Americans also qualify.  Additionally, any film that has elements/themes of Asian culture, or takes place in Asia, will also qualify for consideration.

Season three will premiere on May 10, 2012 at the Visual Communications Film Festival in Los Angeles, California.

@A_Lee i would actually say it's vice versa...that it's the corporations that is having way too much power. corporate lobbyists occupy the political discussion and now, government officials must appease to those with the massive amounts of moolah to have any hope for election and/or re-election. I think the OWS protesters are targeting the right people and entity for this..

I think it's an okay attempt at humor but the music video I posted above? FUNNY. The whole "let's just be friends" is something we ALL faced at one point or another, which is why I don't think much of this.

However if the meme blatantly points out the fact that he's Asian and that's why he's only LJBF territory, then that would be a different story. Just the dude being Asian is not enough ground to declare that this meme is racist

@aEnigma7345 Ooooh that makes a lot of sense. If people are getting mad about Freddie Mercury being considered Asian, then I don't give a flying !@*@)$!@. He is what he is and we as a community must embrace and not cry just because it's not an East Asian.

I am not minding this exchange of conversation between you all but I believe we need to all take a slight breather about this matter. I see valid points from both of your perspectives. At this point, it is clear that you disagree very passionately so it may be better to leave it off as "agree to disagree"...

This comment section has blown up like a gigantic squirrel on E! Most of the heat seems to be generated towards J.T. Tran and his PUA techniques and then spiraling into whether or not Asian women should be conscious about Asian men and not date white men so much? I sit here, typing to myself and observing the actions of this massively fascinating thread section...

@ErikaHarada @Ed @jedifreac holy crap, this has gotten intense. When it comes to race and relationships, I ignore statistics. If the Asian girl has a WM preference, then I do my best showing her that im a charming, likeable guy with a lot of heart. If she doesn't like, oh well. There are so many women out there, Asian or not, that I dont see why we make it such a big issue. Personally, I also dont see why white women are so revered, they're just like everybody else. Black, Hispanic, Asian (East, SE, and the fine South) are all awesome tome. Pah.

if the reports are true, I don't think excessive force was used. They asked him several times and he refused to comply. Now if they decided to taze, or God forbid, shoot him, then yes, that is excessive force.

@just_ricky when it comes to the asian american/twinkie/banana part, you are right...i misread that sentence and thought that he was equating the three terms as the same thing. As for the self-hatred part, that is a personal belief and you are entirely within your rights to disagree. But I want you to read the first page and TELL me that this man is not having issues with his Asian American identity. Tell me that he wishes that he was somebody else, rather than Asian (even if he doesn't say it).

It may be that I'm drawing too much from my own personal experience, but I thought JUST like Wesley once upon a time and after a while, I came to realize that I was filled with so much hatred for myself. Once again, you are entitled to disagree.

I'm not bashing this article by any means. But it is hardly perfect and as writers, I think it is a responsibility that we have to point out anything they may feel to be inaccurate or even personal beliefs about who they are as a person.

But you know what, screw perfect. I embrace this article because it IS full of flaws, about the writing style (11 whopping pages of ranting) and the author's self indulgence about his own worth. In the same way, my articles can have (and most often) holes in it and rather than believing in some clean, polished BS that is sterile of any personal input, I appreciate what Wesley has done. And that's my 2 cents.

@jgifpeg @izzy In America, Asians apply to not just East and Southeast Asians, it also applies to Desis. It's just that we are really lagging when it comes to understanding that Desis are part of the pan-Asian identity.

There will be an article I am writing dealing specifically with this matter. Stay tuned.

@DMan - Check out his resume on IMDb...you don't get to being in those primetime network TV shows and feature films without being SAG.

But really, being SAG or not is irrelevant to me. I look for Asian Pacific American actors who got talent and is pushing themselves hard out there to be seen...if that is what you are implying why I'm interviewing Randall. If anything, I am interviewing Randall because he is extremely funny, talented, works hard to be seen, and has a great heart and soul.

I hope this answers your question.
