@BlamTheJamBox @WallyWorld @Daddyfatsax It will be interesting to see if Zach (Zack? Zac? Zak?) can translate his game to the NBA and if he is coachable (most important factor). Unfortunately the quality of coaching is not great here. Rubio will help though, he is a heady basketball player.Anyway, I have concluded that UCLA gets really good players because of the sun, campus, basketball history (Wooden!), girls, etc. and that their coaching really sucks. How else do you explain Russell Westbrook, Kevin Love, Darren Collison, Jrue Holiday, etc. etc. etc. going through there in the last 10 years and *no* titles. Comeonnowguysthisisgettingridiculous.

@Daddyfatsax Bill Duffy is officially the second member of the Milt Newton All Stars (Flip/GT country club members whose names lead you to assume they are old cranky white dudes when they are not).
Like the write up though. I think Randle is too high and Gordon is too low (*way* too low), I have Gary Harris and Stauskas higher than Lavine, but it's definitely a good list. Jordan Adams and Jahii Carson are a couple other guys that could be sleepers. Carson could be a Nate Robinson type guy or a JJ Barea guy, Jordan Adams is an athletic combo guard. Nick Johnson is a guy who might stick with someone as a 2nd rounder (streaky bomber, think Jason Terry). Good stuff dude.

1 year, 1 month ago on Trade Up From #9? Unlikely
Utah dealt #6 plus other assets for #3 (Deron Williams) in 2005, so change "Year-o" to rhymes with "FUN." Also, there have been a ton of trades involving top 5 picks in the last 10 years. LaMarcus Aldridge for Tyrus Thomas in 2006 (#2 for #4 + assets) and Emekak Okafor for Shaun Livingston in 2004 (also #2 for #4) are almost identical to the Love-Mayo swap. Devin Harris + assets for Antawn Jamison in 2003 and Ray Ray for Jeff Green et al in 2007 were also examples. This has happened almost every year until the salary cap changed in (2008?) and teams started taking advantage of the rookie scale more.
@CollegeWolf @WallyWorld Do we have a positive confirmation? I'll be pissed if this is fake.

That was one of those "really good players get lucky more often than the really shitty ones" shots... like Duncan's split-leg bank shot 3 pter in the playoffs about 5 years ago.
I respect AK more than LeBJ or Kobe.
But then they would lose the whitewash on the court... which I just noticed at this last timeout.
I would trust Barea 10x more in this situation than Ridnour.
Love needs to get his Olympic "stop bitching and play" switch flipped back on again.
Ridnour is a very good backup PG. He is the least clutch PG of all time though.
Nice hedge, Love.
Easy. He's competing for minutes with the G.O.A.T. aka Malcolm Leezy.
Shved is a stone cold killa.
We're on the highway to the danger zone.
LEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! GET BUCKETS.
He's playing the CunningHAM game. Works for me. Shoot midrange jumpers and dunk. That's really all we need him to do.

@CollegeWolf Not as good as AK.
Wait, did he leave with injuries or did he just get pulled because he can't shoot a jumpshot?
1 year, 8 months ago on 11/14/12 Bobcats @ Wolves Preview/Game Thread
Make MKG make the shot, although he's probably their next best shot in that situation. Leave Ty Thomas wide open under the basket, he's a spaz.
Agreed. They should have doubled Kemba to force the ball to someone else. Anyone else. He is their only clutch player.
Kemba is clutch. Williams... uh. Previous statements withdrawn.
...AND COMPLETELY REDEEMS HIMSELF!
Just when I think Ridnour couldn't be any more of a pushover on Defense, he goes and does something like this.
AK for King of Earth.
@Daddyfatsax @CollegeWolf Shved needs to shoot us back into this game.
So here's the thing about Williams... He's actually really close to actually being good. He just doesn't make shots, doesn't catch the ball... he's his own worst enemy for sure. He's pretty similar I think to Evan Turner. 3-10 is still brutal, but he's not making bad choices, you know? He seems to take coaching well.
AK for President.
@CollegeWolf @DaddyfatsaxI would totally take Gerald Henderson, although he would render Malcolm Lee redundant.

Solid write up my dude. Just one question... did they change the rules this year??? It would appear that they now allow you to exert effort when our opponents have the ball, as well as when we do. I am confused by this sudden change of rules and/or strategy.
@Daddyfatsax And I fully support your @leezy3 marketing campaign on twolvesblog. Kid deserves a shot if he works for it.
1 year, 10 months ago on Will the Wolves' Defense Improve in 2012-13?
@Daddyfatsax He was my pet player when I was trying to convince you all that he compared comparably in the combine to Westbrook. Bwahahaha. I have hopes for a poor man's Avery Bradley type role for him though.
@Daddyfatsax @WallyWorld I don't even know that I've seen @leezy3 play, but he is irrationally one of my favorite T-wolves bench guys. He is athletic as a mofo. He's no Westbrook, unfortunately though.
@CollegeWolf Fair enough. But did you realize that Kirilenko blocked way more shots between ages 22-25 than Patrick Ewing? Chew on that for a while. He's never averaged less than 1.0 blocks OR steals per game in any season, including the 2010-2011 season with Utah. I'm looking forward to legit defense from at least one guy on the court even when RR is injured.
@CollegeWolf AK at his best was a top 5 defender. Super underrated, the guy averaged almost 5 BLK+STL per game (!) for 3 years in a row in his prime. He led the league in BS in 2004-05, was second the next year, and was in top 5 in both BLK and STL in 2003-2004. Plus he has that long, gangly, bony defensive presence that just makes him a pain in the ass to play against. No idea how he'll translate back in the NBA this year but in his prime he was a top shelf defender.I'd feel way better if he was our 6th guy or maybe 7th, but he's at least a solid starter to plug in if he can stay on the court.
Good article dude. However, Ridnour isn't a good defensive player. At all. He's a very competent offensive player and an outstanding jump shooter. His defense is mediocre. He doesn't move his feet very quickly and his hands hang down by his knees too much.
I agree with you about Shved's D from what I saw, too much Beasley in him, not being aware of what's going on around him. That could change of course with good coaching (Shved is young) and also Shved does a better job than Luke of getting his hands up and creating turnovers.
Lee has the potential to be a solid stopper off the bench if he dedicates himself (he's young, athletic, hungry, and was known as a defender at UCLA). Haven't seen enough of him to know and I'm not sure we will this year with Adelman.
Kirilenko will be a solid to plus defender when he's healthy. That much is a given.
Roy... I have no idea what to expect. Portland's voodoo witch doctors are remarkably adept at ending careers with nagging injuries, so he has to regain something just by staying the hell away from the Rose City. It will be fascinating to see what he brings to the table.
Rubio fortunately doesn't rely on his lateral quickness for his D but instead on hustle, smarts, and his freaky-deaky long arms. I don't foresee his knee injury giving him too much trouble except when matching up with the Russell Westbrooks and the Derrick Roses of the league. And.. I mean, don't they all have trouble with those matchups?
@Nate Hughart @CollegeWolf Zach Randolph probably. Amare. Maybe Duncan and KG still. Guys like Brand, Boozer, and Horford? All of those guys have a far longer track record. Pek is right there with most of them if not better, but he's had 3/4 of a short season playing at that high of a level. Tough to call him "the best" low post scorer. For half of last season he may have been that. I'm optimistic, but Pek's track record is shorter. Let's wait until teams have had a chance to plan for him to see how well he does under more normal conditions.

@WallyWorld @tcsnyder @CollegeWolf @jtshoopsblog Note: I'm not saying we *would* beat the Lakers in a playoff series, just that it is way more realistic than beating the Thunder.
1 year, 11 months ago on Wolves Set to Sign Andrei Kirilenko
@WallyWorld @tcsnyder @CollegeWolf @jtshoopsblog I could see a healthy Rubio outplay 58 year old Nash over 7 games. I could see Kirilenko and Love battling Kobe and Pau to a stalemate (i.e. Love scoring against Pau about as much as Kobe against Kirilenko and vice versa). Bynum vs. Pek... eh. Depends. Pek gets to the line a lot, Bynum fouls a lot. What does Roy have in his tank? What can Shved do?
I would be a lot happier playing the Lakers in the playoffs than the Thunda. Thunder are a tough draw for everyone.
@CollegeWolf @tcsnyder That picture is killing me.
@CollegeWolf @tcsnyder @jtshoopsblog Meh, LAL and OKC would be tough. SAS are getting oooold. 1st round exit likely, but then again we don't know what Roy has left in the tank and how good Kirilenko will be. There are some variables there. As the year goes on we'll know more.
Plus Kahn said there's possibility he makes one more "heavy lifting" move. Williams for Tyreke???
@Nate Hughart I don't know if Wes Johnson can parlay his talent into long term success, so I don't see a tremendous gamble here.
Check it out. This is from this summer. I can see why we like him, without any highlights of D obviously. He can handle the ball and shoot and is big enough to probably at least bother normal NBA SGs with effort. Nice signing.

@CollegeWolf Probably optimism, but that is one dysfunctional org.
@CollegeWolf Some in Portland are making it sound like failing to get Hibbert reduces their likelihood of matching, since spending lots of money on a plus-role player for a losing team is never a good thing. If they had Hibbert, then they would have a solid front line with Hibbert, LMA, and Batum. Instead they may go into tank mode/build through trade & draft.

@roundhouse Yeah no lie. The Hornets game I linked to was actually a win though and Wes was 8-12 with 6 3s... Tonight is definitely a VERY good game in a much more meaningful situation.
@Pants80 But there is nothing that he has done that has shown that he will play this well every game. He maddens me.
@roundhouse He did have a 29 pt game last year against the Lakers and a 24 pt game where he was 6/8 from 3. http://espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=301227016But yeah this is definitely one of his better games.
@Pants80 Wes is playing like he should given his abilities. Not that he should shoot this well every game, but crashing boards and running to the rim... no reason he can't contribute every game.

2 years, 4 months ago on I Am (Or, "Was") So Bitter
I don't know about you but I've watched about 20 Spanish League games in their entirety on the internet in the last 3 years... Rubio is part of "my" T-Wolves as much as anyone else. As far as the bandwagon jumpers go, maybe it's because I tend to like "underground things" (music, restaurants, movies, books, political candidates, etc.) and they always eventually grow in popularity to the point where they go mainstream. It's just something you get used to. It's fine. You can always cling to "I was a fan back when we had Rambis as our coach." You'll get some cred for that.
@CollegeWolf I think it would be crazy to think he will suddenly turn into Kobe. But lots of guys as old or older than him have determined to repurpose themselves as Defensive stoppers and succeeded. So if he can commit to that I think he has a chance to have a solid career in the long run, if he puts in the time studying and practicing. You don't have to be a knockdown shooter to be a lockdown defender.
2 years, 5 months ago on A Foundation to Build On
Also one of those guys you're calling terrible is 31 games into his first non-Rambis season (that is, his first effective NBA season) and played a real solid game tonight as a defensive stopper. I know he's frustrating because of the guy we passed on for him, but don't give up on Wes yet. He should really be considered a rookie this year. Last year was garbage.
@SeanMichaelPatrickMurphy@CollegeWolf Mmmmm. I watched Dirk put away the 76ers tonight with back-to-back-to-back double-teamed, one-legged, turn-around fade away jump shots out of the post. Love is probably a better all around player and definitely is the guy I'd rather have for the next 2-3 years. Love will have a better season than Dirk, and I'd probably even rather have him for a game if you had to pick. But for 5 minutes, when you need someone to take over a game, Dirk can still turn it on like he did in the finals last year. Guy is freaking amazing.
@CollegeWolf@Zookeeper Well how did that work out for him tonight? Made the one that counted, right?

@Pants80@WallyWorld@CollegeWolf Right. Like I said, I just don't think it's fair to call dudes failures yet. Especially Miller (who will almost certainly be comically slow to get up and down the court- I'm anxious to see him pick one side of the court to hang out) and Lee (who I am genuinely optimistic about making an impact on our team in the long run).
2 years, 5 months ago on First Quarter Power Rankings 2012
@roundhouse That seems fair. @WallyWorld made good points too. Like I said, I haven't seen him play enough to form an opinion, was just curious, because as far as body language goes, it's hard to imagine him being worse than "bad Darko."
@Pants80@CollegeWolf It's not the ranking I have an issue with- it's @CollegeWolf calling them epic failures. The only thing that failed was their bodies, which can happen to anyone.
I did rank them all if you remember, I am just saying let's not read into their ranking.
@CollegeWolf Lee, Martell, and Miller are not fair to rank. So to call them epic failures seems to me to be an epic logic failure. Beasley and Wes, sure. Randolph is suffering from lack of minutes (as I noted) which we don't understand. Darko has not been good, but against LAC he was very good. If he was a bench force that could get you 25/10 once every 5 games I'd feel much better about him on the team.
Not that I'm a huge advanced stats guy. But in this case the advanced stats seemingly back up the conventional wisdom. Further, their offensive ratings, worst to best:Beasley (79), Wes (84), Darko (89), Pekovic (96), then everyone else. Randolph is at 100, so he's (obviously) not the worst offensive guy.His minutes coming as a PF probably skew that data, but still...
Have you guys noticed that Anthony Randolph is 3rd on our team in scoring/48? Love (30.4 pts/48), Barea (27.9 pts/48), then Tony R (24 pts/48). Does he not play adequate post D at all? I haven't seen him play much this year, but Darko... is Darko. When he's good he's good, when he's bad, he's Darko. Also, basketball-reference.com shows Tony R with a DRating of 100, which is better than everyone on the team but Ricky and Love (98 and 99 respectively). Is Randolph just annoying or immature or can't play the 5? What gives?

@roundhouse I won't lie... the trades were hastily constructed. Maybe we take on Hedo's contract in trade 1 and GSW sends an unprotected 1st to Orlando. How would that strike your fancy? Seriously though, you think a trade built around Monta, Ridnour, Beasley, Randolph, and picks is awful given that Orlando will lose DH for nothing in the offseason? I guess I have a hard time seeing it.
As for Redick OR Hedo? I don't think you dare take Hedo's salary without getting something of value in return. He's simply and grossly overpaid at this stage of his career. I'd take him and Reddick on, or certainly Hedo and Richardson, or Von Wafer, or anyone who is an actual, legitimate, semi-serious NBA SG.
In retrospect there were a lot of guys who would have fit the bill in that draft at 23. I for one am not a Jamal Crawford fan, although I would have been happy to get Jordan Crawford instead of Bjelica's rights and 2 second rounders. Greivis Vasquez has always come across as a bit of a Rudy F which doesn't jive for me. I prefer my ballers not to be douchey. Good write up though, and in context what you have is typical: not anything as shockingly awful as passing on Curry to take Flynn, but rather a slow and subtle degradation of value through repeatedly mediocre decision making. I think you hit the nail on the head, and in my opinion this is it in a nutshell: Kahn has made as many (or more) blatantly good moves as he has blatantly bad moves; however, it's the massive quantity of subtly bad moves that is killing our franchise. $5M for Darko here, $5M for Webster's broken back there, passing on a proven winner for a roll of the dice, trying to outsmart everyone in the late rounds, stockpiling middling picks and never cashing in the chips for a high draft pick or a proven starter.

@WallyWorld Totally fair about Taylor shelling out from time to time. I probably got caught up in the collective group-think Timberwolves ownership/management hating- which I hate.

3 years ago on Nelly to Minnesota: It's Getting Hot in Hurrrr...?
@CollegeWolf The D thing worries me a bit, but then again Dallas just showed us that creating a winning team based loosely on Nelson's player development, combined with a defensive coach and an added defensive anchor inside can win a championship. In other words, while he's here we probably get better as a team but may not be able to win a championship. Think about that. If our biggest beef against the team was that we can't quite get over the hump to championship caliber, wouldn't we be thrilled? Doesn't that level assume perpetual playoff team status? I'd be cool with that. The other thing is that our D was SO bad last year, he could coach any kind of D and be a better/more successful defensive coach than <s>dracula</s> Rambis. Again, at least he has a pulse. And a plan at the end of games. And the respect of his players. And his own legacy, as opposed to riding on Phil's coattails.
@CollegeWolf Nelly told Zgoda he wants to be here because he likes the idea of coaching our young guys. Nelly helped develop Mullin, Timmy Hardaway, Mitch Richmond, Steve Nash, Dirk Nowitzki, Jason Terry, etc. all as young players. I think he gets a bad rep for not liking to play rookies just because he didn't get along with certain guys, or felt like certain guys were drafted too early (Randolph). I feel like his attitude of "you have to reach down and become the player you can be" is good for guys like Beasley and Randolph- these guys don't need a coach who's a buddy, they need a father figure who can tell it like it is and demand the excellence that they possess but habitually fail to achieve. I don't know, he doesn't lock us in long term, but I think he's a good short term solution. PS I love the belly pic too.
@CollegeWolf @mathis Also when Beas comes into the game, the rhythm of passing the ball has been established. Guys feel like they're contributing to the game. When the game starts with a guy shooting all the time, it sucks the life out of a team, particularly a young team.

@CollegeWolf @Pants80 NM I answered my own question.
3 years ago on The Lockout Isn't All That Bad In Wolves Nation
@CollegeWolf @Pants80 Wes will probably two seasons from now (after this one is cancelled), due to like a displaced retina after <strike>getting poked in the eye</strike> having his eye eaten by Pekovic, while scrambling for a loose ball in a pickup game.Fixed. Is this HTML by the way or is there a good way to format these replies?
@CollegeWolf @YWG Or, "Just nod if you can hear me," depending on if we're talking about the studio cut or some of the live versions. Oh Kahnny Kahn Kahn. You make me want to become comfortably numb.

@CollegeWolf @YWG I'm all, "Hello... is there anybody in there? Can anybody hear me? Is there anyone at home?"
@CollegeWolf Can we all agree that Kahn is nowhere near McHale status on GM awfulness at this point? He played the Rubio thing well this time around. Everyone thought he was a failure when he came back with "no news" from Spain...
3 years, 1 month ago on RUBIO, RUBIO RU-BI-OOO!!!
@Pants80 @CollegeWolf Fair point- however, Beasley is/was a volume shooter, whereas Williams is the picture of efficiency. 56.8% 3 pt fg? Absurd. Beasley was a force in college but did more damage on the glass, off the dribble, in transition. Williams did more on defense and from spot up looks.
3 years, 2 months ago on Livefyre conversation - http://www.twolvesblog.com/201105183262/minnesota-timberwolves/articles/yup-screwed-again.html
@CollegeWolf I don't know... I mean, Williams was a more steady producer in college than either Beasley or Johnson, although Beasley seems to have more 50 point scorer upside. I don't know that you can keep both of them unless you slide Beas to that 6th man destroyer of worlds position I have mentioned before... but still, Williams looks like he could fit very well with a guy like Rubio. Then again who doesn't? Rubio, even if not a great scorer or defender, will be a fun guy to play with and a good teammate, as long as we keep him on the court like he belongs. Also, what about trading our pick down to someone who badly needs a SF/PF and can give up a 2012 unprotected first rounder? If Beasley isn't moving to 6th man (please do this) then I don't see a role for Williams and we may as well take a roll of the dice for next year's class.
<Talking myself into Derrick Williams> He isn't Michael Beasley. He can't create off the dribble but is a much better defender and much better spot up shooter. If he continues his terrific shooting and defense on the NBA level he could turn into a Gerald Wallace-like hyper-roleplayer. Assuming the rumors of Rubio coming over are true, this could work in our favor.</talking myself into Derrick Williams> Well, crap guys. This sucks.
@Pants80 @CollegeWolf Right. Then people no longer say things like, "Who the heck would want to play in Minnesota?" And eventually you do have to keep cultivating the high-end young talent until you hit gold.

Mike, good post. I agree with Phil Jackson but that doesn't excuse Rambis. You defend Bynum if he's your guy, not if he's on the other team. If Beasley is your guy you defend him, you storm the court, get thrown out if you need to. Balls.
On the issue of spending, if we are trying to build a long-term contender there are only certain guys that make sense to add- Josh Smith, Iguodala, sure. Most other guys out there who we could add and make sense in a 5 year plan (because let's be realistic, unless the rest of the league locks out and we are in a 3 team season with Sacramento and Cleveland, we aren't contending for 3-5 years at the soonest) are on their rookie contracts, so they don't add payroll
The thing that you bring up is that basically Rambis has his idea of what he wants the team to look like (the 1985 Lakers, apparently, although where are Magic and Kareem???) and Kahn has his idea of what he wants the team to look like (the 2007 Golden State Warriors?) but the two of them refuse to work together- Kahn goes and gets Randolph and Rambis gives him the DNP-CD. Beasley gets jerked around. Hell, the only guys that have gotten consistent minutes are Love and Darko, and even Love sometimes is mysteriously banished to the bench.
I get the feeling that Rambis was involved in the 80s drug culture of pro basketball and never quite recovered, he just seems so damn spacey during games, and then he goes and defends Bynum after a blatant elbow that wasn't even remotely close to "a great basketball play"? Garbage. Did you forget what color your team's jerseys are, dumbass?

To be honest, I agree with Wrangler on this. WallyWorld himself uses the business world analogy, and while NBA is a different business model than most out there, let's stick with the analogy for a while...
Ask anyone in management in the real world about the major challenges in leading a successful organization on any level, and one of the themes that will come back over and over again is the challenge of maintaining a sense of optimism. If you don't keep an optimistic attitude, even successful teams are hard to follow (see "Vikings, Minnesota").
To use another metaphor, you buy a house that's condemned, you gut it, strip it to bare studs, and now we're going to stop the project during the rough-in phase, rip out all the plumbing and electrical that we just did, only to completely re-frame the house and do all the hard work all over again.
Of course the house looks like crap, we are rebuilding it from the ground up!
The defense of your desire to draft Cousins is a MAJOR weak spot in your analysis. His weak-ass baby attitude is tearing up the Kings and it would do worse to our team, where Love and Beasley's egos are already in a tenuous balancing act (thank God for guys like Tolliver and Telfair who seem to work hard and not whine when their minutes are jerked around).
I wouldn't be heart-broken if we fired Rambis and end up with Laimbeer. I agree that winning in the WNBA is probably a lot tougher than people give him credit for. Also since he is the closest thing anyone has seen to Love in terms of NBA game, he'd probably do a good job of mentoring and utilizing the Love machine.
That said, Rambis isn't playing with a full deck as far as a roster goes. Our team, without Beasley, Webster, Darko, Ridnour, is hardly comparable to most NBA teams in terms of talent.
That doesn't excuse the poor game management and the weird rotations. It also doesn't explain the over-use of guys like Koufos and the under-use of guys like Brewer and Johnson, who I think could play 30 minutes each and hardly break a sweat.
Finally, PLEASE stop trying to use petulant ad-hominem insults to further your argument. It does nothing to solidify your credibility and it makes you seem less smart than you obviously are. You put a lot of thought into the write-up, why not let your thoughts speak for themselves rather than trying to use insults to fill-in what you could easily articulate thoughtfully?
3 years, 5 months ago on In Kahn We Can No Longer Trust
Like your write up, dude. As far as Wesley goes, however, let's keep in mind that a team needs shooters, and he can drop shots when he's feeling it. It's interesting that he was often compared to Shawn Marion, but he's playing more like a poor man's Ray Allen (the way Ray plays now that he is almost exclusively a shooter, not the way he did when younger and he would attack the rim every so often). You need guys like that who space the court and shoot without clogging up the lane. That said, he needs to add one last move, which is the shot fake, 1 dribble hesitation, and get all the way to the cup for the dunk. As he improves his handle and gets more comfortable in traffic, I see that happening.
Still totally comfortable with Wesley over Cousins, if nothing else, because he doesn't whine all the time and screw the lockerroom up. We have been winning shorthanded as a team the last two games and you can't do that without chemistry.
3 years, 5 months ago on 2 Consecutive Road Victories = Baby Steps
@CollegeWolf I don't know, he does have that "guy you hate when you are playing against him, guy you love to rub in your friends' faces when he's on your team" kind of stink to him. Which is obnoxious when you don't have him on your team. I don't know how I'd feel if he was a wolf. I mostly agree about almost wanting to add him for synergy- but at the same time not really wanting that.
Wait until you get to the second half. Have a bucket near you when we start giving Jonny his minutes.

Right on, CW.
Matt, our own pick is top 10 protected this year, unprotected next year. Utah's pick is Top 16 protected and has some protection from now until 2014, when it reverts to a 2nd rounder if we haven't gotten a 1st by then. Pretty sure Utah will make the playoffs this year or next, so we'll get that one. Memphis's 1st is top 14 protected this year and has some protection from now until 2015, when it turns into cash.
Interesting question about Beasley. I'd want to see how he plays with Brewer in the starting 5 alongside him before I'd bump him to 6th man. Wes should help the offense in the second unit, as would playing a PG who doesn't specialize in masonry.
We are not likely to win tonight, since the Blazers terrorize us (reverse jinx). My money is on Andre Miller as POTG ( not a reverse jinx... or is it?).
@CollegeWolf Yeah, they did... I feel bad for the guy, but still. Don't try so hard. He needs to watch Chevy Chase in Caddy Shack. "I'm going to give you a little advice. There's a force in the universe that makes things happen. And all you have to do is get in touch with it, stop thinking, let things happen, and be the ball.

For the record, Ken Mauer is not a good ref. He's a primadonna who has been on the court for some of the worst officiated games that I have watched in the last 10 years.
The fact that college refs are more consistent is embarrassing for real basketball fans.
3 years, 6 months ago on Conversation for http://twolvesblog.com/201101123192/minnesota-timberwolves/articles/nba-official-kenny-mauer-goes-crazy-5-technicals-in-10-seconds.html#livefyre_thread
Flynn not improving. Brewer playing well. Love playing well too. Darko needs to learn how to dunk that stuff every time he can. Too many finesse shots at point blank.
Sa-weet offensive foul by Pekovic. He DESTROYED that guy.
Wolves playing great so far. Love hedged a screen correctly. !!! !!! !!!
Timberwolves playing good perimeter defense. So far so good.
Ken Mauer should lose his job over this. Unacceptable for an official to lose his cool and, more importantly, lose his objectivity mid-game. To call 4 techs with a dead ball after calling 2 ticky-tack fouls, then not call 3 consecutive muggings by the other team, is unacceptable.
This is how rumors of games being rigged by the league and its mafia connections get started. (Especially when the ref in question looks like a total jabroni.)
Oh. My. Gosh. Not Sundiata Gaines!!! What will we do with the last seat on the bench? Can we please rope off Sundiata's seat at each game and call it "The Sundiata Gaines Memorial End of Bench Seat, courtesy of Blockbuster?"
Actually, the guy probably hustled his entire time here, gave us some decent sub minutes when we needed him, didn't do anything stupid, and is probably a righteous dude. Thanks for your time as a Wolf, Sundiata. Respect.
