@Herman_NYRBlog That's one thing no one can criticize Richards about. If you remember, he was the guy who took Del Zotto under his wing his first season in New York and got the defenseman to have his best year as a Ranger.

@BringBackBeukeboom Not that Say my Name needs someone to defend him but he's actually given Nash some lukewarm praise recently. Which is saying a lot. lol

@Say my Name Completely agree that the short term contract is a huge reason why the trade was such a win for the Rangers. In the past they've been hamstrung by contracts to older star players. Not this time.

@TomDundie Tom, it's all just fun in here. No need to take anything personally. Everyone is going to get ripped on at some point. Just have to roll with it. Hopefully you'll reconsider.

@AG_Blue @KevinTheNYRBlog I can do that. Since the Rangers aren't playing tonight, I'll post an open thread around 6pm. Good idea.

@DPSnotty Nailed it!

@JohnPiccini It was the latter.

@JohnPiccini The next time will be the first time.

@Say my Name @laurenhuston Don't be fooled by Lauren's innocent look. She's a pitbull.

@pkh33 She couldn't look more out of place in that pic.

@_Jack I'm pretty sure they practice at the other end of the rink.

@FireSather C'mon bro. You're better than that. Don't need that garbage on the blog.
23 hours, 13 minutes ago on
@dcmullets1 It'll be another Prust situation. Rangers will want to re-sign him, but someone is going to overpay and it would be irresponsible for Sather to match.

@dsclaw88 Guy has averaged around 25-30 points a season. Not bad for a defensive defenseman.

@JMK8363 I eff'n hate Candy Crush. It's like the most popular app out there and they still find it necessary to pull that shit with their advertising. Unreal.

@ATCRyan Thank you for giving me the motivation to take care of something else right now.

@gravey94 @Say my Name I think it happened during the 2005 playoffs.
@Say my Name LOL! Nah, just awful arithmetic.

@pkh33 Crazy, right?
@AG_Blue @KevinTheNYRBlog Yes Girardi stayed with his man but in doing so skated past a guy driving to the net with the puck.
2 days, 23 hours ago on
@cb1 I guess I need to see another replay of that play.
3 days ago on
@AG_Blue I feel Girardi has to slide over there. Voracek already committed to going to the net, so I doubt he would have been able to make a high quality pass in that position.

@allagash My point was that if they don't play with the same intensity of the first game they're going to be in trouble in this series which is hard to dispute. And c'mon, I'm always over dramatic. lol
3 days, 13 hours ago on
At least it's not as bad as not knowing how to pull the goaltender.
3 days, 19 hours ago on
My bad on the score. A couple too many Easter cocktails.
@JMK8363 The sad thing is that Bickel had a very good regular season that year. Then he had that awful turnover against Ottawa, Torts lost confidence in him and he was never the same player again.

@Brukie_ I think he was talking about everyone else on the team. lol

Thank God he at least got tickets for doing that.

@genetics73 I wasn't talking about Game 1. You have to admit they've had a hell of a time finishing their opportunities this season.

@Bleed_the_freak More a testament of how bad I think Emery is.

@upstate tom That's a fair point. But by McDonagh's response, it doesn't sound like he's fooling anyone.
@Herman_NYRBlog Was waiting for that. Assuming they'll be a post on Reddit about this in 3...2...1...
@IcyCup I thought it was an odd time to bring it up as well, but that's Larry Brooks for you.

@Say my Name I hear you as we only need to look at the way the Rangers played in front of Talbot all season, but Emery isn't some young kid they might feel they have to protect. He started 28 games this year and was three games under .500. for a team that finished the season 12 games over the Mendoza line.

@Josh-CK He's on my bubble.

@McDonagh for President I used to do a fantasy league on the blog, but it got out of control as I literally was running 12 different leagues with 12 teams in each and then I did a playoffs between the 12 league winners. It was nuts and burdensome.
@NYRblogneill @KevinTheNYRBlog @Iron Mike LOL!
@Iron Mike OMG! He totally did.
@Say my Name @KevinTheNYRBlog @gravey94 What can I say, I think it takes away from a player's greatness. Get your counselor to sue me. lol
1 week, 2 days ago on
@Say my Name @KevinTheNYRBlog @gravey94 Yes, because he should have made that save on Brett Hull even though he was in the crease. ;)
In all seriousness, it would have been a black cloud over it. Especially if he wouldn't have won it with that Wings team. Would have had the "couldn't win the big one" label.
@Say my Name @gravey94 @KevinTheNYRBlog It's not just championships alone, it's the full body of work combined with championships. Obviously I don't think Trent Dilfer is better than Dan Marino, but look at the scrutiny guys like LeBron and Peyton Manning went through before they won.
As I initially said, it's not fair, but in my opinion, it's a big hole in someone's resume when they don't have a championship.
I also think baseball is different as there's way too may other variables involved with one player winning.
I have high standards, what can I say.
@Say my Name @KevinTheNYRBlog What I'm saying is that those great players not having a championship under their belt is a chink in their armor.
Ewing was never able to get his team over the hump and he's remembered for that.
Baseball is a different animal because it's so much more stat driven, but I do think a goaltender on a hockey team has much more effect on a team winning a championship than one player on a baseball team.
I'm sorry, if Hank doesn't win a Stanley Cup his legacy will be "Yeah, one of the greats, but...."
Just look at Dan Marino.
@Lordstanleybroadway The Rangers problems in the playoffs over the years has been scoring and Miller bring more offense than Fast or Carcillo.
