@JMK8363 An Eastern Conference Final and Stanley Cup Final in the last three years will do that to a man.

@BringBackBeukeboom All for you.

@gravey94 While all true, what killed me about the above five is that with the exception of Tarasenko, who came six picks after McIlrath, the other "could have beens" were taken with one of the next two picks meaning they were likely on the Rangers board. Just frustrating, but the Rangers aren't the only team to pass on these guys as they were all middle to late first round picks.
I agree that passing over Tarasenko is a lot easier to swallow if McIlrath lives up to his potential.
@Say my Name @johnnyb3910 My bad. lol
@johnnyb3910 Glutton for punishment you are.
@BringBackBeukeboom Not out of line at all. Appreciate the ideas. I might actually use a couple. I try to use the offseason to recharge my battery as I'm basically ready to shut the blog down at the end of every year, so to be honest I don't put as much thought into content. Don't worry, training camp is right around the corner and things will get ramped up around here real soon.

@mansond Good point.
@Yasgard I couldn't agree more.
@Say my Name C'mon you love this stuff.
@Picaz77 Nah, just trying to re-invent the blog into a Rangers Entertainment Weekly.
@G He really needs to step up this tournament finally. The past two years he's been invisible.

@cdubb Haven't seen any announcements as of yet, but I hope they do.
@TruBluEsp @KevinTheNYRBlog Tarnasky is an insurance policy in case Glass turns into a complete disaster or gets injured. Big dude.
@RangersForte Stempniak has way more grit than people give him credit for. He's an under-sized player who likes to throw his body around. Those kind of guys are always fans favorites. Plus he can put up 35-40 points.
@Josh-CK Damn ESPN Insider bullshit.
@Gianni74 A lot riding on Miller for sure. But I think Lindberg has just as good a chance as Lombardi of grabbing that third line center position.
@TruBluEsp @KevinTheNYRBlog Not sure I like Stempniak on the fourth line. Listen, if Lindberg beats him out for a roster spot then I'm more than fine with it. Especially since the Rangers can send Stempniak down to Hartford without incurring the cap hit.
@TruBluEsp Where are you putting Stempniak?
@GeorgeXVX @JosephCosolito I'm pretty sure he was being sarcastic.
@Melissa (blknblueshirts) MSL is a lefty who plays on the right side.
@fs2020 I think so for sure. Lombardi and Glass are far from having a locked up roster spot. Plus Lindberg could easily outplay Miller for third line center.
@rangermom Agree that his faceoff skills need to improve drastically.

@tgrace5 Actually, I watched him him perform like one of the best players on the team down the stretch. You can see that squinting or with your eyes wide open.
@King For Cup My point is that he's 24-years old and is putting up almost 60 points in a bad year, so the closer he gets to his prime the better he likely will be.
On the other hand, Richards is past his prime so another year from him just means he's that his game is diminishing that much more.
@nasoov My bad. lol

@gravey94 It's brutal.
@(Blank) McDonqvist Literally laughed out loud at work. Bravo.

@RangersAndRadio @KevinTheNYRBlog No, only salary counts against the cap.
3 weeks, 2 days ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/
@RangersAndRadio He can still be given signing and performance bonuses on top of entry level salary so money could still factor into his decision.
@upstate tom All I know is that they played just one season together at BC.
@DPMohr64 @KevinTheNYRBlog @jasonshyer You're 100% correct that he has every right to test free agency, but I don't have to like it. I bet the Blackhawks disagree that he's not holding them hostage.
@jasonshyer All fair points, but it just rubs me the wrong way when a player who's paid no dues can hold his team hostage like this.
@Bring back Langdon If he's supposedly so good, why can't he crack the Blackhawks third line?
@gravey94 LOL! I thought the same thing. WTF?
@Billfrom Brookhaven Plus, his wife Nicole is the one who said she wasn't a "trophy" wife. Those are her words, not mine.
@Billfrom Brookhaven I didn't make fun of his wife, I don't even know what she looks like.
@nasoov Thanks for the video!
@johnAMIRANTESrug LOL! Good point.
@njgoalie35 @JMK8363 Welcome aboard!
@JMK8363 I'd think the colored pads in contrast to the white ice are probably better for the goaltender because the shooter might focus in on the colors instead of the net.

@dahjay Not soon enough my friend. Not soon enough.
@IhaveawaiteratMSG @G Very bizarre from both sides.
@Say my Name @KevinTheNYRBlog That Girardi contract is looking worse and worse for sure.

@Say my Name @KevinTheNYRBlog I'm usually with you on this stuff, including not paying Callahan, but I definitely think Step is worth it.
Callahan never reached 55 points in a season...ever. Stepan has done it as a 24-year old. Not worth $6M now, but absolutely will in a few years. Worth buying out a bunch of UFA years for a little more now.
@Say my Name @KevinTheNYRBlog For us fans? You're not a fan anymore?
@Say my Name @KevinTheNYRBlog I watched him be a point per game player down the stretch for a team who made the Stanley Cup Final. Probably would have had more points if Nash could, you know, score.
I have no problem overpaying a little for a homegrown guy entering his prime. Taking a chance for sure, but who are you replacing Stepan with? Not many going into their prime, 60+ point guys out there for less than $6 million per.
