@cblack66 I'd say "old." This roster has no youth.  Maata, Pouliot, but nothing up front.  Scott WIlson actually looks promising to me, but not a top-6 role.  Bennett?  yeah, okay.

@Say my Name @Who Really Cares  @docciavelli I'll be honest, say what you will about Torts--he's still the first guy I'd want to skate for.  The way he'd take Brooks to task for saying anything about players, well, it brought tears to my eyes.

@Say my Name @docciavelli Look, credit to the Pens for trying hard in a tough situation.  But they tried hard for the entire month of March and look at the results.

The refs have turned the NHL into clutch-n-grab central again.  I read Larry Brooks' column today, and he's spot-on.  The postseason is a grind-it-out league now.  Hence, why teams like the Kings, Ducks, Bruins, etc. do well.

@The66thDopefish @docciavelli Blackhawks?  Hossa, Toews, Kane, Sharp and Keith have big contracts.  Do you see them in the same boat?  No.  Because they've drafted well with guys like Saad, Teravainen, etc.

@Say my Name Humble, but I disagree.  Rangers are a much better team, and the speed and energy difference show.  Remember, Pens played 5 of these D-men to death for a month to end the season.  It's showing (just watch Scuderi try to make a line change).

This series is over, even if MAF steals Game 5.

Before I go, just a thought:  It's time for a rebuild.

I'm not saying you deal the core guys of Crosby, Malkin, MAF, Letang.  But you do deal guys like Sutter, Spaling, Hornqvist, Perron (if anyone is stupid enough...wait, Toronto?). and Kunitz (again, if anyone is ... Toronto?).

You can't honestly say this team is going to be a challenger next year in its current fashion.  You also can't say there's much the Pens can do after trading yet another 1st rd. pick for a waste of playoff roster space.  So, tank the next year, trade more assets at the deadline, and restock WB/S next summer.  Yes, it'll suck to feel the hopelessness of Buffalo.  But it'll pay off in 2 years.

Someone exhume the body of Craig Patrick and make it GM.  Stat.

@Hibbits @DJ_TaktiX Stewart?  No.  Ask anyone in STL how that guys plays in big games.  Kapanen is a winger, with zero NHL experience.  Sutter is solid. Spaling is what he is--a tougher Tyler Kennedy with worse hands.  Perron can fuck off, though.  Guy seems to know he doesn't get paid extra for playoff games.

@LoranMannIsTheMann  I don't feel sorry for Toews.  You skate with your head down, you deserve to get caught.  Did Paul Kariya ever act as though everyone who ever cleaned his clock was a dirty player?  Did he ever ask anyone to exact revenge on those guys?  Nope.

Kariya simply started the "Heads-Up Hockey" program to teach kids not to do exactly what Toews did on that play.  My hope is that some kids watching that hit last night remember what happened and they don't get similarly caught in a bantam game.

If this all leads up to the Bruins winning the Cup instead of the Pens, it'll be one hell of a kick in the sac for us Pens fans.  Until then, though, we're pretty happy.

I just don't like the way the media led Bruins fans to believe it was happening for them first.  Reporters, if you don't have your story solid, don't release it as fact--leave it as a "rumor."  Otherwise you're on the road to Eklund's (e5)-ville.

Dear Ottawa fans:  If you're upset about losing Karlsson to a skate blade to the achilles tendon, I have a cool story for you, bros.

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=320139

"PENGUINS' STAAL OUT INDEFINITELY AFTER UNDERGOING SURGERY"

"Staal underwent surgery Friday night to repair a severed tendon that runs across the top of his foot to his toe.  The injury happened when he was cut by P.K. Subban's skate during a collision with the Montreal defenceman."

So yeah, we're familiar with the feeling.  Stop whining.  You've still got Jason Spezza and ... Jason Spezza.  Okay, commence whining.

@DoobyDoobyDoo @Rage @akus As much as I'd like to see Knuble, I don't think it really helps this team.  For two games, we've seen the Pens' team speed be their best asset.  Tangradi's worst attribute is his inability to get pressure on the forecheck and cause turnovers for Malkin/Neal.  If Bennett's willing to skate hard and do that work, he's a better option, period.

It's worth it for me, because half of the time I'm in my office watching on my computer screen, as it is.  $50 is worth having a high-quality stream rather than trolling for 20 mins to find a decent feed, which half of the time goes down or hiccups all the time.

If I was able to be in front of a TV, though, I'd bag the $50 and just try streaming a few games if they weren't on TV.  For the most part, it looks like the best games (Flyers, Caps, Rangers, Boston) are going to be on National TV anyways.  So the hell with it.

Then I take the money I saved on Primanti's and waste it at Grandview Saloon on over-priced drinks.  Still worth it for the view.

I think neither Shero nor Bylsma really want to roll with any of those three on Crosby's wing.  But to say otherwise would make them seem more desperate in the FA/trade dealings.  So they're properly claiming that they're happy with the squad as is, while telling Randy Carlyle, "We'd love to have Bobby, but we don't *need* his ass to win."  It's a much better bargaining position.

And for the record, great advice from a smart guy.  All you young wingers, put the shot off the long side pads so the center drive can get the rebound.  Don't just try to pick a corner and miss off the glass and out of the zone.
