One observation is that it seems like this assumes that all teams are equally active on both ends of the court. A team could be very active on one end of court and very inactive on the other. Are the Cavs, for instance, more active on offense, but virtually inert on defense?I don't think there's any way of rectifying that, though, which is why I say this just an observation.

I've actually started looking at this and doing some charting on my own using Synergy as springboard. I've looked at points per play when a player sets a screen. Josh Smith rates very high in this.
