@- Casey - @ngross32 @PagansOedipalComplex Sure. I get that. Not saying I'd make the move, just curious what our plan is if Uribe goes down. I don't see many options.

@DBrim That's good to know.
@PagansOedipalComplex @- Casey - @ngross32 What's the difference between 26 and 27? I mean, looks like the plan is to have him come up some time next year. I get that he needs more seasoning, but we're pretty thin behind a fairly OLD infield. We've got potentially JT and Barney, then maybe Sweeney that could tackle 2B? I'm just not even sure who would play 3B if Uribe went down.
What do we do if Seager's killing it, Rollins is killing it and Uribe goes down for an extended period? Will it be JT or would we bring Seager up to play 3B?
Wow. Way to hold your liquor.

@Dustin Nosler @ngross32 I am slightly confused as to how long Rollins will stick with this club. If Seager continues to be an unstoppable force and Rollins is mediocre in LA, do we bring Seager up at some point in 2015 to play SS and move Rollins to super-UTIL? If Seager is the jam and Rollins is providing good value at SS, do we think about Seager at 3B if Uribe regresses?
I liked the flexibility with Seager before, but now management has said: "He's our SS of the future." Obviously that can change, but it seems like for the time being the plan is to have Seager take over for Rollins when the former looks ready and the latter looks done. With that said, it's hard to see Rollins lasting longer than one season here, but maybe I'm wrong.
1 week, 5 days ago on What is a Mike Bolsinger?
Yeah, I neglected to say in my earlier comments, but very good post.
@Dustin Nosler Seriously right? Either that's our plan or the plan is NOTHING.
@Tymathee Is this a side effect from over-exposure to grit? Interesting ...
I'm picturing Steve Dilbeck reading this article, having no idea how to respond, and just yelling "NERDS!!!" as he opens up word perfect to draft another analytics-bashing opus.
Chances are Mike Bolsinger won't amount to much, but I like to think that we have some serious thought going into these fringe roster acquisitions and hopefully Zaidi is improving our chances of these lottery ticket-type players.
Agreed. Really digging this Farhan depth.
2 weeks, 2 days ago on Some intrigue among Dodgers’ 17 non-roster invitees
@ABSmileBunch @Dustin Nosler Let's not forget that we basically slid them $10M, too. Can't they actually keep our $10M and trade Dan Haren for a fringy prospect? I still like the deal for us tremendously, but Miami loves cash like strippers love glitter...I have to think that helped.

@Mike Petriello @DBrim It's really funny how, unless you're talking about all-time greats or elite players, people's perception of players seems to decline over time. That's my totally random unsupported thought of the day ...

@Math Space Cat @Mike Petriello @DBrim That RJ for Urias comp is making me get carried away ... wow. So awesome.
@Dustin Nosler WOW.
@Catfishin @DBrim I am, too. I think a 750 OPS with ~20/20 and above-average defense is totally doable and extremely valuable.

@Dustin Nosler How do you know? Projections come out this week, right?
Thank god you pushed that Chris Perez review down. That was not the first bit of dodger info that I wanted to consume in 2015. Good lord, we gave 3.5M to a homeless man and let him pitch all season long. Ugh.

3 weeks, 5 days ago on The Brett Anderson Signing Is Official, And You Should Be Happy
I'm guessing the Arby decision is what delayed the Anderson signing for so long ... tough call.
@Purple Drank @TheConman @- Casey - Calling that bluff was one of my favorite moments of the offseason. Oh, really, you'll retire? We'll that makes you a really interesting asset to trade as an instantly expiring contract and means of funneling cash to the greedy fish. Thanks, brah!
@TheConman @Purple Drank @- Casey - We're still suffering from a Colletti hangover, but clearly this ain't the Colletti Dodgers. Thank god.
So do we think that Anderson was signed as our swingman and that we're still on the hunt for another SP? If not Shields/Scherzer, is anyone else out there other than Cole Hamels?

@TellMyWifeISaidHello *LHP, obviously.
@TellMyWifeISaidHello Not clear platoons, but AJ, Turner and SVS should gets some serious part-time action. I'm really hoping that Gonzalez gets some time off against LHP next year, too, considering that 313 point OPS split in 2014. I'm not ready to call Gonzalez a platoon bat, but there's a strong argument to be made that he should get time off and/or drop in the order significantly against RHP.
@Purple Drank @ngross32 I'm hoping that Don is getting better information this time around.
Looking back at Oakland's lineups throughout the season (random sampling, just perusing), it appears that the A's lineup was constantly shifting. I'm wondering how much of that was because of Zaidi and if we should expect a similar lineup shuffling next year. I'm guessing we'll have different looks against RH vs. LH because of platoons, but will the regulars shuffle up and down based on the handedness of the pitcher ... or their specific results against that pitcher ... or their results against the type of pitcher?
We often hear that some managers don't want to shake up the lineup and disrupt the hitters, but that seems to me to be an old wive's tale. It's not like Gonzalez will be asked to bat lead-off or hit in the 8-hole ... he's a run-producer, what's the difference if he's hitting 3, 4 or 5? I guess the most impacted could be Pederson, who possibly should hit atop the order against RHP, but might drop to the bottom third against LHP. I like the thought of maximizing our offense and I'm interested to learn about how Zaidi/Friedman will want Mattingly to use the pieces they've assembled.
So, how 'bout that Mike Baxter? What a guy.
1 month ago on 2014 Dodgers In Review: OF Mike Baxter
I also am confused about this.
Several dip wads at the LA Times and tons of fans. At minimum, I'm hearing tons of chatter that undervalues Grandal. Even if he just repeats last year's PetCo numbers, that's a 54 point jump in wOBA over 2014 AJ Ellis and there's room for way more growth! That also ignores the defensive upgrade at C.
Why does everyone consider Grandal to be a broken-down platoon catcher?
Do teams pay luxury tax on cash payments made to other teams to offset outgoing salaries?
Depends RH/LH, but Grandal will hit higher.

@Mike Petriello That pen looks so much better already.
@Mike Petriello @ngross32 @ak825 Fair point, but what do they do with the lousy ones? I guess maybe Myers can cover 1B, keep Maybin in CF and put Upton and Kemp in the corners. Even then, you still need to ditch Quentin, Venable and Smith. Haha!
@ak825 @ngross32 I have no idea what they're going to do. Carlos Quentin is owed $11M and is a dumpster fire ... Maybin's owed $16M and may be a defensive replacement. Good lord, what are they doing?
Would the Padres seriously consider trading one of Kemp, Myers or Upton? Are people just making that up?
@ABSmileBunch @ngross32 @- Casey - Oh. <anticlimactic face>

Great article. I think our bullpen is going to be MUCH improved.
