One more question Schefter after all this speculation what will the  Dolphins won loss record be in 2013?

If they can upgrade the pass rush then the defense will improve no matter who is in the defensive backfield,In fact it will make even rookies look better because the QB will have to make decisions a lot sooner than he wants that hampers even Brady, especially after he lost sure handed Welker who is a reliable outlet.

Dont forget they have Wake coming from one-side they need rushers coming from both sides and that will even help the defensive tackles they already have.

@JasonLoucks  @KingShula  @gofins72 Also Im not so sure that was not part of a long term goal by management for Bush in the sense that they are telling him that he will play a specialized role with the Dolphins and not an every day back, subsequently useful in contact talks which are happening now.By benching him Philbin was telling him he fumbles too much as an ever down back and he will not be worth as much to the team in this role as his agent is asking. It is another bargining ploy because I think they KNOW that it is not a good idea to be letting talented offensive skill players walk away on a team that is lacking the same.

@JasonLoucks  @KingShula  @DolphinMicks Yeah nothing is written in stone so Reggie could be back,it all depends on what they offer him elsewhere and if Ireland and the Dolphins are willing to match the offer.IMO they should retain Bush and Hartline their most productive offensive players in 2012.

@DolphinMicks I agree with this but I dunno but it seems the Dolphins have already made up their mind about Bush, remember when he was benched because he fumbled.I think unless they get a good price on Bush they have already decided that Lamar Miller can do the same job that Bush does and at a lower price. We were not the only ones that thought Bush was not being used properly by Sherman.I remember in several Dolphin telecasts the announcers saying the same thing. Before the season even started I thought Bush would get a lot of receptions as an outlet because  they started a rookie T-Hill  at QB,but thats not what Sherman and Philbin had in mind.

@JasonLoucks I am convinced that the best course of action for this off-season is for the Fins to acquire the skill players they need in free agency which will probably be one or two at the most.I am of the opinion that they should get a WR in free agency and draft a pass rushing DE with the first pick.I hope they dont draft another offensive lineman with their first or second pick, they have done this several years, its not like before where the lineman stayed on the same team for years and therefore you had continuity on the line.

In the NFL today you need to have players that make a difference next year because of free-agency.The Dolphins with the assets they have this off-season and the draft choices they hold,  if they make the right moves now next year they could find themselves in the playoffs, and in those playoffs I wouldnt want to be starting 1st year skill players like defensive backs and WRs.Thats who the opposing coaches will target because they are rookies and will have more weaknesses than veterans. The Dolphins need to plan for NEXT SEASON they might not get a chance like this for YEARS.

@gofins72 OK my bad, they need a fast WR to stretch the defense out.IMO a WR that can acomplish this NEXT year would be the ONE player to ad that makes an IMediate difference on offense.Ditto for drafting a DE if they dont get one in free-agency, although I have more confidence in Irelands drafting of this position than a WR that would do this in his first year in the NFL.He has drafted defensive lineman that have started in their first year even picking one out of the canadian league which can be argued was their most valuable player in 2012,Wake.

@gofins72 I agree with this entire post gofins72.To ad something Defensive ends can be considered playmakers on defense because they limit the QBs time to throw even without sacking him, and they cause fumbles and interceptions because of the Qbs having to throw before he wants to(they have clocks in their head depending on opponents pass rush) and they cause fumbles and recover fumbles some are even good at tipping passes(remember Watt in Miamis first game of the season.

@JasonLoucks I wouldnt draft a WR with my 1st round pick especially with Irelands record with drafting of WRs.I would take the fastest WR in free -agency and I think that would be Wallace. As my first pick in the draft I would take the BEST pass rushing DE,and Ireland has done much better with defensive lineman. That pick would be expected to come in on pass rushing situations and play opposite Wake one of Irelands best pick-ups.

@gofins72  @KingShulaGames 9,10 and 11 could be considered key games that determined if the Dolphins were going to be a winning team or not, they were 4-4 and playing Tennessee  in the 9th game at home in a game they were expected to win and lost, after that they lost to Buffalo on Thursday night and they were 4-6 with the toughest part of their schedule coming up.

Its going to come down to money for the free-agent offensive playmakers, and what value the market establishes for each player.IMO the Dolphins need speed to stretch the field for opposing defenses that play against them.I think Wallace theroetically would be a better fit.T-Hill especially if he runs a read option type of scheme or plays would be better served by a definite over the top receiver, even if just a decoy to allow him to have more options, that would be even more so if they get Bush back because I think he will be used differently in 2013.Having said that I am not so sure L.Miller couldnt play that role. The fins offense was limited in 2012 because the opposing defenses shortened the field on them knowing the receivers they had wouldnt run by the coverage.
