@jenjens31 @WhatsItMatter @cmspet I would just hate to have someone call their home phone and just because it doesn't answer, they think they have lost everything! Nice idea and we look for hope in times like this, but it can be harmful at the same time and I would hope people think twice before drawing a conclusion on such important a subject as the lost of their or someone else's home!
@cmspet Major point, "if the power is on"! If the firefighters were protecting your home, they will turn off your power and gas to your home. So just because the power is on in the area and your house doesn't answer the phone, does not give assurance that the house is standing or not! Blessings!
@Pokey There's many factors involved when they might get to it. I wouldn't want to guess at it. But I will say I've been involved with many wildland fires and sometimes the places you think would be really bad turn out not to be. It depends on many factors, fire intensity, fire crews having time to get in place to protect structures, and so on. So hang in there until you get the facts, try to attend the meeting in Auburn tonight! Blessings!
@YubaNet @WhatsItMatter Well that's what I get for not refreshing my page! LOL!

According to Channel 3 News, the King Fire is now 100% contained. 10/9/2014 @ 1700 hrs.
@Jerry Berry Great picture!
Channel 3 coverage of the fire shows very light smoke and light fire activity. Although they still haven't learned to not show burned / damaged homes before the owners have been notified!
Good Day Pascale, And you thought you'd get some down time. HA!
@jenjens31 No, but until they get better containment on it I doubt they'll be changing or lifting the evacuation status.
@stinky the rat @WhatsItMatter From what I hearing they are on the fire and just ordered 1 Tanker and 1 VLAT. That radio is El Dorado Country Public Safety, I was too late to edit it below! The link is correct!
Winds in the Garden Valley area are showing SSW @ 0 mph.
@stinky the rat @WhatsItMatter No problem, glade to help! Air Attack is on El Dorado Public Safety. The link will take you there. Blessings!
I'm in Garden Valley and not seeing the smoke I was seeing yesterday, my be the winds are different or the fire isn't burning as strong today. From the sound of it on the radio, their getting a handle on it!
For anyone that would like to hear Air Attack over the Applegate Fire you can find it here on your computer: http://www.broadcastify.com/listen/feed/559 You may have to download their service, just go to their home page and get their download, then go to the link.
Never mind, my wife came home, up Highway 50, I guess it's the Applegate Fire.....Thanks twice!

Good Mourning Yubanet,
It sure has gotten quite around here! I wanted to thank you once again for all you folks do. Because of your hard work and "get it done" attitude a lot of people faced these fire with a lower trauma level. If it wasn't for your site and others (sort of like it) we would not be half as informed. I sent you a little something via Paypal and I hope others that found your site helpful will do the same. Thanks again for the help and response to our requests!

Good Evening Yubanet,
Have you ever heard that your Home Owner Insurance only pays for mandatory evacuation and not for voluntary evacuation? I looked at my insurance and it did state that it pays for mandatory evacuation for no more than two weeks. But I didn't call them to find out more. I just want to give a heads up to people in the Volcanoville and Quintette area that are now faced with a voluntary evacuation, that their insurance may not cover it and they should check into it!
@Melinda I been looking for good definitions for all the terms for over an hour now and have not found good, clear, simple term definitions. The real simple way to look at it is the "heat perimeter is the edge or fire line. Intense heat is an area with heavy fuels and active burning. Scattered heat would be spots still burning after the main, intense burning has run out of fuels, things like tree stumps, tree root holes, etc. This is what mop up is about, putting out all these little fires inside of the big fire. Mop up can last for months, normally after mop up, they will release the firefighting teams and denote a group of engines to patrol the fire until it rains really good or the fire is deemed out by the proper authority. I hope this helps a little bit, maybe someone with a better understanding can give you a better explanation. Enjoy the rain, I know I am!
It sure is raining in Garden Valley!
@Barb D That's GREAT! I'm so happy for all of you! Thank you firefighters for a job well done!
@thankful for the efforts @WhatsItMatter @AsInfo You're very welcome, anytime!
@AsInfo @WhatsItMatter You're very welcome, But please remember I'm speaking in general terms and fires are known to do what they want during times of high winds, high temps and low moisture. Also, I'm not on the line and do not have direct knowledge of the situation, so I can only give you my opinion based on what I hear and see on line. Best wishes!
@Janetude You're about 6.5 miles from the fire line according to Google maps on a straight line from Bear Creek Rd. to Mosquito Rd., which is the fire boundary at this time. The back fires should help you feel safer, these are controlled burns to help keep the fire inside it's lines increasing your protection level.
@AsInfo If you take a look at the Division map above from the 20th, you'll see they have been doing a lot of work in the area you are speaking of. Take note of the XXXXX areas, these are completed dozer lines. Many times, most of all with housing protection, cutting a dozer line and than back firing behind it to protect the structures from an advancing fire is commend practice. I hope some of my two replies helps you understand a little more of what is taking place to protect the homes in that area.

@AsInfo Yes and no, by that I mean yes they did a back burn in the area around the house, and no they didn't include the house in the back burn. These maps are constructed via a collection of ground points, these points are than transferred to the map you're looking at. So in this case it lets us know that a fire line or back fire operation has taken place at this location. It may have been due to a spot fire in some cases, but I don't think that was the case in this area.
Hey Yubanet, Thanks for the great up date, much info here, helps a lot!
Nice wetting rain in Garden Valley just now! We need a lot more to be really effective, but if this is hitting the fire it will help cool it down in the short term.
@YubaNet @WhatsItMatter Thanks!
Good Morning Yubanet, Do you know what Division changes have taken place? Listening to the radio I heard talk about Division P becoming Division H, or something to that affect.
Thanks and have a great day!
Due to last nights lightening everyone should be keeping an eye out for new fire starts! As the day warms up and things dry out lightening caused fires will start to grow, early detection can save lives and property!
@therealstory2 I know of some Garden Valley Firefighters that have gone to Alaska and fought the Tundra fires up there. I've heard they have to put the fires out so the Moose have food. Don't know how true that is, but that's what I was told.
@horzlover @WhatsItMatter We had a few rain drops here, but that was it. A little wind, but it too has fallen off.
We have thunder and lightening in Garden Valley, no rain yet.
Yubanet, Thank you for the Division Map!! You made my day!
@YubaNet @WhatsItMatter I worked fire fighting up here for many years and just like to help people to not get too stressed out, and to teach them to preplan and pay attention to whats happening.
@YubaNet Sorry about that!
@Concerned in Cool Your welcome, just remember to check in here everyday and look at the fire map. If the fire turned it could run the middle fork, but you would still have a way out due to Cools location. Just keep a watch on it and you should be fine. Don't get upset over all the ifs, ands and buts, just do your homework and you'll be much better off than most.
Blessings, and I'll keep you in my prayers!
@Concerned in Cool I'm in Garden Valley, haven't heard a thing about Cool. I would keep a check on yubanet.com each morning and evening for up dates. At this time I don't think you have to worry too much, but to be safe, keep an eye on here for information.
@wondering I think its normally two times a day, once at around 0700 and again at the end of the day shift, about 1900 hrs. I could be off on this, maybe someone has better info and will offer it up.
@aeris Have you ever been through an area that has been burned over by a wildland fire? It takes about twenty years for the area to grow back in. Many people have stated that "Stumpy is gone". As we, that have visited and enjoyed the beauty of Stumpy Meadows, it is gone and will take many years to return to what it was.
Hello Yubanet, Any chance you can get a division map with division identifiers? Thanks!
@Jtroyer @WhatsItMatter Well it all depends on what you have to get out with you if you need to leave. I have live stock and house pets and have already made plans for their relocation if it becomes necessary. By listening to Air Attack and keeping up with the weather I can make choices of what I may need to do at any given time. Wildland fires are known to change at a moments notice. Staying alert and having a plan in place can save your life and others around you and just maybe some of the things you find dear to your heart. But not everyone living here has as much invested as others. This fire ran 10 miles overnight at one point, so who knows what will happen next.
@YubaNet @AlanMartin1 Thanks for all of your hard work and long hours keeping all of us up to date on this and all the other fires! Its a never ending job during fire season! Blessings.
@richardodette Yes it has move West, but seems to be very slow moving. Also from listening to the radio, air attack has laid down fire retardant and ground troops are working containment lines. I also live in Garden Valley and I can't say I would feel safe leaving for the weekend. But its something each of us needs to decide for our self's. I would check the weather for the weekend and pay close attention to wind direction and speed and the temperature and humidity levels. One other thing to think about is how close to the fire you live in GV. If the wind is going to stay North, Northeast you should be fine, but that's just my best guesstimate! Good luck and God Bless you and everyone involved with keeping us all safe!
How much of this is Lip'erals and how much is paid intervention is anyone's guess. I know an ad was run for paid protestors, what they were told to do, who knows? I can imagine it would include driving a stake between the groups, causing as large of a division as possible. Isn't that what it is all about these days, divide and conquer? Everything they can do to put people in this country at war with each other is being done, from the 2nd amendment to abortion to religion to race. You name it and someone's going as far one way or the other to start a fight based on emotional values, dividing the people of this nation, causing us to be blind to the larger picture, we are all Americans and need to stand together if this nation is to survive. The common good must always be stronger than the personal self interest.

@NavyJR I agree with you, I think I might bend on a couple of other cases, incest and under age rape come to mind, but these should be looked at one at a time. The other one that you spoke of where one life needs to be given for the other to live. I think this is a choice the mom and dad and Doctor need to make as a medical choice, not anyone else. But we are on the same page.
1 year, 7 months ago on The Moral & Logical Argument Against Abortion: A Step By Step Guide
@NavyJR I think maybe your miss understanding me? I find none of this humane and I'm totally against all of it. There's nothing humane about any of it. Abortion is wrong from start to finish, it is murder without prosecution. I woman's right to choice because it's her body, is a poor excuse for murder!
