@KevinTheNYRBlog @TruBluEsp Kevin ... aside from Stempniak, Rangers also signed Tarnasky. A big, rugged forward that could play 4th line. Thoughts on him?

@KevinTheNYRBlog @TruBluEsp I'm not that big of a believer in Stempniak. He is what he is. Do you think it's totally out of the realm of possibility he plays 4th line with Moore and Glass? My post is made under the assumption that both Lindberg and Miller earned NHL spots. It's just that I would not put Lindberg on the 4th line.

I know Stempniak will most likely play 3rd line but what are people's thoughts about Lindberg centering the 3rd line with Miller and Hags on the wings?

@TomDundie @ThomasDimopoulos So you're saying San Jose will trade Thornton for Hags and Klein straight up????  Pipe dream. Besides ... Do you realize Thornton cap hit is $7 million??? Wouldn't work

@kevin11 I can see how 3 years might be seen as too long but I think he'll bring more to the 4th line than Dorsett. Besides .... It's not that big of a cap hit.

@kevin11 Not sure if they could fit it under the cap but I would love to see a 4th line of Moore-Glass-Carter

Love the Moore signing. Great deal for both. Like I said in an earlier post, the key to the 4th line is D. Moore.  I may be in the majority but I like the Glass signing. He's gritty, bigger than Dorsett ,AV knows him from their time in Vancouver and will drop the gloves. 3 years might be too much but he's only 31.

I have a feeling they are penciling in Miller on the wing with Zucc and Brass, sign a depth forward (Carcillo???) and have a kid battle for 4th line mins. on the other wing

I was not a Boyle fan but he won me over as the season progressed and then in the playoffs he cemented himself in my favor. BUT ..... He has an over-inflated sense of worth if he thinks he's more than a 4th line player and PKer. To me .. the key to the 4th line is Moore. Get him two gritty, fast, big grinding forwards and I think the 4th line will be fine. Boyle was great on the PK but can be replaced. They still have Hags, Moore (if he resigns which I think he will), Stepan, Nash, Zucc and St. Louis. They all killed penalties last year.

As for Pouliot, I don't mind bringing him back but I think Brass and Zucc will find chemistry with whoever they put on the wing due to their vision on the ice. Give them time and they will make it work.

@AL55S Can't trade Girardi ... Has a no movement clause in his contract for the first 2 years of the deal

@sb24 Only problem is you're trading a superstar (Malkin) and getting a rookie, back-up goalie to be a starter and it would have to be Staal as Girardi has a ntc for the first 2 years of his deal. Even if you throw in a 3rd player (Brassard, Fast or Miller), none of these are top 6 forwards. Pitt would be crazy to do this deal.

@TomDundie Question .. How do you plan on the Rangers fitting Eric Staal's $8.25 million cap hit over the next 2 years? Buying out Richards, trading Hags and J. Moore won't cut it while they still have to re-sign Zucc, Pouliot, Brassard, Kreider, Boyle and D Moore.    Sorry .. I like your thought process but won't work under the cap.

@Sniper Turcotte Unfortunately, Richards retiring would not bail Sather out. It would still hurt the Rangers cap. Stiff penalties.

@EquusBiz @TruBluEsp @Brukie_ Not saying he would retire but it is something that can potentially happen and that would hurt the Rangers. Your point actually lends itself toward the Rangers "should" buyout Richards.

@EquusBiz @Brukie_ That is not correct:
Per the CBA reached in January 2013, teams receiving a "cap advantage" from long-term contracts (defined as seven years or more and entered into prior to the execution of the new CBA) will be penalized in the event the player retires or "defects" from the NHL before the contract expires.

@HABSFAN9999 I put both the Prust hit and the Moore hit on the same level. One was later than the other, one caused injury and the other did not .. Regardless, that's not the point. Both were equally dangerous. As for Dorsett and Eller, not sure if either was trying to send a message but it is possible. With that said ... Eller's hit was more dangerous than Dorsett's head butt. I may be a die-hard Rangers fan but my opinion on this is not biased. It is open-minded and logical.

Not worried about retaliation. Kreider is a big boy and will handle himself. Prust or Weise scare no one. Let them let this unfortunate injury affect their overall game. Injuries are part of any sport.  Deal with it!

@LanceBrennan  Get head out of Crosby's ass.  He's been a cry baby, a whiner and a pussy since he entered the league. Skates away from Moore and then cross checking Moore while down on the ice after Kunitz jumped him is proof enough of the pussy he is. He knows he's protected by his teammates and the refs and more importantly .. Bettman.

@dcmullets1  Yep ... and wouldn't drop the gloves with Dorsett in the previous game. Just like Niskanen's cheap shot to Klein saw Niskanen skating away backwards when Klein was going after him. Crosby is the epitome of a pussy who whines. Talent aside, he's a disgrace to the game. The whole NHL knows it and his own teammates know it.

Bottom line to all NYR players.  We, the fans, will not boo you for losing a game, games or a playoff series if you consistently play hard, tough hockey with heart AND most importantly, play for the name on the front of the jersey not for the name on the back. We theNY Rangers fans are not blind nor stupid. We all know each and everyone of you is trying. We don't question or boo that. We question and boo JUST HOW HARD you try. Personally, I wouldn't boo Nash if he didn't score a goal the entire playoffs just as long as he played with the emotion and determination he played with when he played against his old team for the first time in Columbus. Pull out the video of the Black and Blue Shirts season from 2 years ago and take notes.

You want the crowd, even the Dolan ass-kicking suits to get into the game???? Simple .. Start playing men's hockey and start hitting anything in a white jersey near the puck. Start crashing the net. Start making crisp passes, taking the hit and making a play and most important ...  FIND SOME HEART!

In all my years of watching the Rangers, don't know what I'm more disgusted with.  The constant no-shows by the Rangers supposed "top" players (Nash, Stepan, MSL) or the lifeless, disassociated crowd Dolan has created in MSG. I cannot ever remember watching a Rangers playoff game on TV and being able to clearly hear what the players were saying during a scrum.  First game at home on a back to back, the MSG crowd should have carried this team with energy. Instead, Dolan's suits are too busy texting, talking business or sipping cocktails in the Delta Sky Lounge.

@mando24179  I agree but size doesn't always mean toughness. Case in point is Boyle and Girardi.  I like what you said in another thread to bench Richards for Fast b/c I'm sick of watching Richards do nothing over and over and over. This team needs toughness and outside of Haley, I just don't see anything in Hartford that could be plugged into the top 9 that would provide toughness.

I recall Torts, when speaking about Miller last year, stating something to the effect that Miller had some attitude issues the Rangers organization addressed with him. Sounds like this could be a recurring theme now under AV.

I'm all for having a so-called policeman/deterrent but for guys like Burrows, I honestly don't think it would matter. I think we can all agree the Bruins have more than one deterrent on their team (Thornton, Chara, Lucic) and that didn't stop Burrows from biting Bergeron's finger or going after Tim Thomas in the Stanley Cup Finals. Sadly, and this my soley my opinion, the deterrence should be "you go after our best players, we'll go after yours"  Kind of like in baseball. In the AL, you drill our best hitter, we'll drill yours. That's why I say the Rangers need a policeman/deterrent. Not to go after Burrows but to go after Sedin or Kesler. It could get the other team to say "cut the shit b/c you're getting our best players hurt bc you're a douche".

Just my opinion.

Two players that I believe are free agents after this season that I don't classify as goons and are both skilled enough to contribute on a 4th are Shawn Thornton and Tanner Glass. On D, I wouldn't mind the Rangers signing Mark Fraser as their 6th/7th dman.  These 3 can help both physically, toughness and are not bad players from a skill perspective.
