Although I don't think an "enforcer" is needed 100% of the time, having one in the lineup against certain teams is, in my opinion, a necessity. Would love to see them have a Reaves or Bordeleau type come up thru the ranks or trade for a McGrattan in Calgary. I know the game has evolved but heavyweights that can play still have a place/role in today's NHL.
2 weeks, 5 days ago on It's Time for the Blueshirts to Start Stickin Up for Nash
This type of behavior will eventually wear thin with his teammates. They may never say anything to him but it will. It's on thing to hate to lose and wear your emotions on your sleeve. It's another thing to have temper tantrums like a child after a tough loss. I wonder if he had this temper tantrum after the Devils loss when he let in that soft goal? And before anyone goes trying to bite my head off ... I am a HUGE Lundqvist fan and wear his jersey to every game I go to.

A couple of points on this post from this NYR fan:1. Who cares who is in goal .. Just win! Come playoffs we know who we're riding.2. Sorry to admit I was one who thought MDZ would turn it around under AV. His benching is deserved. With that said, give Falk a chance over the next 2 games, if he sucks then bring up a D from Hartford. I would keep MDZ in the press box for the next 5 games and Ulfie work one on one with him. 3. Not sure who said it but I agree start Nash off with Brassard and (don't kill me) Pouliot. If Pouliot can't get his game in order playing with those 2 then off he goes and elevate Dorsett. 4. 4th line should be Boyle, Moore,Dorsett/Pouliot although I agree with whoever said it ... would prefer to see Haley in there over Moore (nothing against him just a numbers game) or Pyatt. That is it .. let the critics chime in! LGR

St. Croix needs to go to the Zuccarello school for Hockey!
3 weeks, 3 days ago on Is St. Croix Demotion to ECHL a Prelude to Ranger Moves?
They are going to definitely have to make some moves which is obvious and what I see happenng is Moore, in - Mashinter, out. Sorry Kevin but I'm actually ok with this move. Nash, in - Miller, out. I like Miller but if he's not going to get a lot of minutes send him down to keep developing. Then there is this ... Pyatt. What happens when he is back healthy? Sorry but would as bad as Pouliot has been lately, I still think he brings more to the team than Pyatt. Pyatt won't hurt us with stupid penalties but Pouliot has more potential upside. People keep saying to bring up Kristo. If he's not going to play top 6 minutes, which he won't, then keep him in Hartford. Besides, I've watched him play and his defensive game is lacking. Needs some more development on that side.

@Say my Name I like both Dubi and Prust but honestly .... I'm starting to really like Dorsett's game. Can skate, create scoring chances, not bad on the PK, can agitate and will drop the gloves to defend his teammates. Outside of the occasional stupid penalty which he hasn't taken lately I'm not so sure Prust is an upgrade over him other than in the fighting dept.

@johnnyb3910 I actually thought about this last night .. And would put Nash on line with Brassard and Pouliot. I don't buy into this #1 or #3 line for 2 simple facts:1. Of the top 3 lines, whichever one is going best in that game, plays the most minutes.2. Assuming Nash in for Miller then 4th line would be Dorsett - Moore - Boyle. This in essence would be still be a good checking line opposite another team's top line. AV recently has recently mixed up line combos for this sole purpose.
I wonder if anyone here saying we should trade Girardi, MDZ, Miller, etc the same people who complained about the Nash trade and how it ruined chemistry and set the team back. That trade was done to improve scoring also. My point ... to get a legit scorer (30+/season) you have to give up quality (perfect example is the recent Islanders trade) and sometimes giving up that much quality hurts you more in the long run than than it helps in the short term. Just a thought.

@shoot_the_goalie Question b/c maybe I'm missing something ... why would Vancouver trade Kesler their third best player behind the Sedin's? This is not a sarcastic question .. Just curious as to why people are thinking he's on the block
I'm semi OK with last night's loss. I see progress from the start of the season. Yes, they obviously need to score more. That's a given. What frustrates me more is the continued inability of some players to make a simple pass and taking it a step further, controlling a pass on their sticks. It's amazing to me how many times I see passes bounce off Rangers players sticks.

I would say only bring up Kristo if he's going to play on the 3rd line. I have to say, I'm worried that once Cally and Moore are back, it will be Mashinter and Miller getting the boot from the lineup and not Pyatt. Just a gut feeling .. a bad one at that. Now if we they were to call someone up to replace Pyatt, would rather they call up Haley and move Dorsett to the 3rd line.

@messier I'll give you that but Sather is not the type of GM to make panic moves. Don't get me wrong ... I've wanted Sather gone for a few years now.

I vote Pyatt out as well but have a funny feeling it will Fast that gets sent down to make room for Hagelin.

@capncally1978 @TruBluEsp Damn .. Can't believe I overlooked Pyatt. Thank you for correcting my obvious oversight! Pyatt will lead us to the promised land
Kevin ... Right there with you with the Capitals comparison ... The only fact that makes me think it's not possible is that the Caps star (Ovechinkin) took off and I just don't have the same confidence our start (Nash) can/will do the same. Regardless .... LGR!
@messier So you would be ok trading a 30 goal scorer, a 1st round pick and a 2nd round pick for a player who will be a free agent after the year?
As bad as they have looked and played, I choose to remain optimistic and hope/believe that they will turn it around when they get to the 20 game mark. With that said ... The following players must GO! They either are terrible, bring nothing to the team or we have other similar style players:MDZ = Must go. Terrible positioning on D and can't hit the net EVER!Pyatt = Must go. Brings nothing. Slow, doesn't hit hard, and hardly wins battlesMoore = 4th line center, nothing more and as much as I dislike Boyle, would rather keep Boyle as 4th line center. Boyle = Must go if they insist on giving him 3rd line minutes.Zucc = Must Go but sorry .... just not cutting it and don't think he ever will.Pouliot = Must Go for his up to date performance and past track record, would prefer they give a kid a shot instead. Most importantly .... Sather and Dolan MUST GO! Horrible personnel decisions over the past decade. Sather has done NOTHING good for this franchise. Don't be fooled by some good trades sprinkled in between all his horrible decisions. I give Dolan credit for investing the money he does into the team. Do I believe he wants bring a Stanley Cup to NY? Absolutely. But .... his apparent blind love and loyalty to Sather and the over-bearing atmosphere his ego casts over MSG and both teams is a detriment. Get somebody fresh, new blood with a good RECENT history of building teams not for short term success but for long term success. It's pathetic and a blatant slap in the face of all NYR fans that he keeps pushing Sather as the GM on us. How can he not be fed up with this guy? Hasn't won anything ... ANYTHING since becoming GM.

@freebie23 That's more than Orr ever contributed and about on par with Rupp while he was with the Rangers. I'll take that everyday from a 4th line banger/enforcer. As long as he's not a liability on the ice, which he's not, leave him in the lineup.
