Rangers should amnesty Richards, sign center Stephen Weiss, and trade Pyatt to Florida for Jack Skille. Weiss takes over 2C and Skille goes to 4RW. Having players on the fourth line that can skate well, shoot and move the puck, and play PK at a high level make teams much better for playoff runs...Skille can do all that @ $1M/year

Richards is still more than capable of producing at an above-average level, but 6.5 million is for players FAR above average. He is not a top 10% player, or anywhere close. The Rangers have been given a gift with the amnesty clause, so they need to use it on Richards and let that money go toward the extensions for McDonagh, Stepan, Hags, etc. $6.5 million can go a long ways and help us keep our young core together. Luckily the Rangers are financially stable enough to eat some of the salary and still go out and sign a younger RFA or FA. I am not opposed to trading one of Staal/Girardi to bring back a Bobby Ryan type of guy...someone who will muck it up AND put up points. Clowe is NOT the answer...for those of you trying to ride that train, Clowe is gone after this season if he think she is getting north of $4.5M from the Rangers.

Opposing teams have figured out how to stop Gabby from one-on-one standpoint. The perception that Gaborik is an elite sniper is false...most of his goals come from being in the right place at the right time; usually around the net. His overall hockey sense has increased under Tortorella but he seems to have lost a step in terms of the big rushes up the ice finished off by a snipe. Bringing Nash onto the Rangers has shown the fans what a true elite player is all about. Gaborik is a good, complimentary piece while Nash is the super-star we have been lacking. Gabby just needs to get his nose dirty and get to the front of the net more often..that is where he is going to pick up his Gs

What names are out there, as far as 3-4 line guys, that can actually play and bring the toughness we need. Aside from a 6th Dman (we are 5 deep, which is pretty good), the only area we are lacking is depth toughness.

@greggray24 @Scott_from_Jersey I thought we were voting for a video at MSG, as well. My reasoning being I believe the tribute videos should be held for those special, franchise changing players like Cally or Hank, just to name a few.
2 years, 1 month ago on Welcome Back Brandon Prust!
Prust was my favorite Ranger while he was here for a lot of the very reasons many of you mentioned. He took care of a lot of the dirty work so guys like Gaborik and Richie could do their thing. Asham was supposed to bring some of that to the table, but I feel he should be viewed as the replacement for Rupp (except Asham is a better hockey player IMO). If Mashinter can come in and give us some of that "bite" we all know Torts loves, he is the kind of guy that can pick up where Prust left off...and then some.
If Mashinter plays well, Brian Boyle will be on the hot seat to get his act together on a consistent basis. Given Boyle's size, he needs to be out there banging and providing the physical presence we need from him. It appears as if Mash is more than wiling to muck it up and I believe Torts will love this kid from the get-go. He is a keeper.

If Torts is named head coach, expect Callahan to be wearing the C in the next Olympics. Suter will for sure have an A and I think Parise might get the other.
