You may all not agree with me on this statement.......but I'm going to say it anyway.
The 2013-2014 was a rough year for Nash. I started to call him "the skittish thoroughbred".
The Rangers acquired this great player, but yet refused to have any real toughness to watch his back. Tavares gets hit, immediately that hit is addressed.....message being..."you don't hit our stud players."
The Stuart hit, the Lucic hit and countless others where opposing players would hit Nash and let their sticks ride high and catch him near his head. Ano no Ranger teammate went to his aid. We had a an over-the-hill tough guy in Asham.....who was soon sent down to the AHL. We traded another guy, Mike Rupp, who was beloved by his teammates and a huge locker room presence. W brought up Haley....played well for 9 games.......then inexplicably sent back down. Clowe being brought in was the right move.....but he was damaged goods.
Guys like Powe and Dorsett...lightweight instigators...were brought in to be our enforcers. And the hits and rough stuff against Nash continued.......and what happened to Nash's game.....it suffered mightily.
Now, Nash did come into camp this year in great shape .But mentally, something has changed. He no longer plays on the on the perimeter.
Is it a coincidence that the Rangers brought in an elite middlweight as an an enforcer to take care of business against opponents who woukd try to take liberties with our star players. And a result, Nash is playing all loosey goosey.....no thinking out there,,,,just playing.

Why do you bring Mcilrath's point production? He's not a goal scorer...never will be. Our hope is that he develops into a nasty, reliable stay at home defenseman
The Rhino should have went high....glove side.

Phew. Got me worried there for a second Kev, You know I'm prone to violence. I was only seconds away from finding this Corsi guy you guys are talking about.....and beating him silly. ;)
"Love......Love will keep us together" ;)
Yeah.....its a barn burner. Lot of goals scored....going to be a fun third period
@Say my Name @McPhee37
People forget Say.....the reason for the rise in concussions....the NHL. The NHL wanted to speed up the game, make it faster.......and they made a deal with the devil. they sacrificed player safety for more offense. It's a shame really.
Great example....the interference call. Back when I played, it was called the "slow down" hook. Not only was it never called, it was encouraged.
Example....You and I are a defense pairing. Puck is dumped in on your side.....and you go back to the boards to retrieve it, Now let's say I see the opponent is bearing down on you....now either myself or a forward would hook the opposing player to slow him down. As long as we did not bring the player to the ice....that hook or interference call was NEVER called. It was done to spare the guy going back for the puck form being crushed.
Today if you try that.....it get called automatically.
Just one example of many,

Brother, I've suffered plenty of damage due to my playing day. Have some neurological damage, nerve damage,,,,,,putting off at least three surgeries. Hockey is a violent sport. And let me tell ya......no one held a gun to my head to sign a contract to play. Its called personal accountability.
A player is skating with his head down......you light that player up. That's the game. I've had it done to me, and let me tell ya....I did it to a ton of opponents.
Sure, guy facing the board, bent over....you can't drill him...you dont want players paralyzed. But those hits....where you catch your opponent with your shoulder right under his chin......shoot...you live for those checks when they happen.
Cmon Kev....whats with the "but"............??..lol
A long time ago Kev, we were playing a club.....they had a young kid.....speedster, great disher.....all world wrist shot.
Well, this kid had a fancy tendency.......if he was coming up the ice....when he hit the blue line, he wouldn't dump the puck in or skate into the zone....he was would straddle the blue line....moving right to left......trying to draw either Dman out of position....when he did he would dish it to the trailer........
Anyways, we're losing 3-0 nothing late in the 2nd.... I'm in position on D....and as this kid is flying up the ice.....my partner is backing up into the d zone....afraid to try to stand him up at the blue line....and the kid cuts across the blueline..straddling it....waiting on the trailer.....
i could hear my coach yelling from the bench as i left my position to lay him out.....got down nice and low.....and gave him a Curt Giles special........
Best hit I threw as a pro......I caught him low and flipped him. Didnt realize as I was skating back to the bench that the kid landed on his shoulder.......kid was writihng in pain. Fractured his shoulder, and suffered nerve damage. Never played again
I was so enamored with the hit....didnt see the tough guy making a bee-line for me. At first, it felt like someone had threw a can of tomato sauce from the crowd and hit me in the face. it was like an explosion. Guy suckered me from behind and shattered my nose with the first punch.....bloody mess.
Well, the game devolved after that.
Bottom line....the rest of my years playing....when i was on the ice....nobody ever tried to get fancy at the blue-line. it was that threat that maybe, just maybe......I would give them a Curt Giles special. Sometimes having a nasty rep goes a long way
Some players build a reputation off of hits....gets in the oppositions head
Watching it in slow mo over and over....looks to me as he caught his chin or side of face with elbow.
Hockey's a tough sport i tell ya. :) Here's a nasty should to head hit......best view around 55 sec mark
Ugh Kev...spit it out...what did i say now?

Rule number 1)
Always keep your head up.....
Rule number 2)
Always keep your head up....
Not that I'm a huge fan of Wrath......but why are you bringing up his points total? the dude is a stay at home Dman.....offense aint his game....never will be
A couple on those two hits........
Kreider..... being reckless will catch up to him. He better work with Glass, since he's a big boy,,,,eventually he'll be challenged.
As for Moore........yeah...he'll be suspended. But on the positive note with a hit like that.....gives you a reputation. Opponents will take notice of you when you're on the ice.....your unpredictability will get players thinking. And like Coach always said...."If you're thinking,,,,you ain't playing."
@Bueller @Say my Name
Wow.....eliminating open ice hits. Damn.....it would be time to looking for another sport to watch..lol
good job nash

HAAAAAAA....for some McPhee mojo
Maybe I'll stick around...
Solid...as in elbow?
No Fsh called Wanda for Kevin...that's only for game winners. :)
Catch you guys later. I'll watch this game later on this evening.
I need to ask a favor for whoever does the write up to this game........
Try to leave Malone and Glass out of it.....and put the blame where it properly should go
Kreider and Moore....those Goons.....get'em off this team asap.
Cant blame Glass for those two hits Mom ;)
Yep...Moore will be suspended. Not a smart play for a guy who hasnt played well most of the year
Ha...blame the 4th line for the asinine play of their teammates
Well, apparently Glass isnt as stupid as Kreider can be on occasion
Ok...enough with the questions..........sounds like two very stupid penalties.......
Ranger players better keep their heads up and on a swivel.
Briefly...what was the match penalty on Moore?
If Tanner Glass thew that hit instead of Kreider.....people here would be calling for his execution...lol
@cb1 @McPhee37 @DP_Snotty
Yeah......opposing players will usually handle that. I have to watch the game.....but if Kreider just did that out of the clear blue.........yeah....reckless players are usually dealt with harshly.....a slew foot here........violent elbow there........
Wow...what the hell is Kreider thinking there? Going to be fun watching this game on DVR?
Was Kreider looking for payback of some kind? Or just a incredibly stupid penalty?
Did i miss bad things Icy?
Just got back..........
Can someone tell me briefly what the hell happened..........Kreider gone...Moore match penalty............what the hell??
The Wild....they have no chance now.
