@SpankyJWhen you set up a tournament in that manner, then yes it's about rooting conference because that's the construct that's been set-up.  For football, no such thing exists outside of whatever bowl pairings happen.

@7IHdIt's Andy Reid, misuse of TOs is just understood.

I'm going bold and predicting the Purdue Boilermakers will crack 100 points scored...

...on the year.

Iowa 35

Purdue 10

@SideWayz Here's where they stand as of today...for shits and giggles.

Tennessee: 3-3, blown out by Oregon, handily beaten by Florida, barely beat South Alabama, took Georgia to OT. Passing 111th (164/game), Rushing 29th (211/game), Points for 52nd (32/game), Points against 75th (28/game)

California: 1-5, blown out by aOSU, Oregon, Wazzu, and UCLA, beaten handily by NW, barely beat Portland State. Passing 5th (371/game), Rushing 111th (112/game), Points for 89th (25/game), Points against 125th (44/game)

NC State: 3-3, beaten handily by Clemson, Wake Forest, and Syracuse, barely beat Richmond, easily won against Louisiana Tech and Central Michigan. Passing 54th (250/game), Rushing 57th (179/game), Points for 91st (25/game), Points against 28th (21/game).

Definitely apples to oranges, but you can see none of the hot coaching prospects from last year are exacting immediate change and winning a lot. It takes a lot more than a new system to win. You gotta have the right guys for the system, both coaches and players.

@dustinblythe I think it's the drastic change of system that's contributing more than physical talent level. We had pretty terrible OLs while Hope was around, so it doesn't surprise me. Still doesn't excuse not tackling though.

@pierrezombie yes. The only reason he has any kind of good reputation is that he was a Steeler, and everyone knows they're a power running team and their OLs are always the best.

@dustinblythe you're missing the point. If the defense is going to be bad, the offense must be good to even stand a chance. We couldn't beat IU with this offense right now.

How many linemen can you say would be a household name or flashy pick up? I'd rather get a guy who's solid and "on the cusp of All-Pro" than overpay the big name just because he happened to gain notoriety as a lineman. Sounds like a great pick up to me.

2 years, 1 month ago on Colts Free Agency: So what's the deal with this Gosder Cherilus fellow?

@paulcareyjr  @thebluemonster  @LovinBlue As a Purdue grad, I'm all for bringing Edwards on. Considering he was released in the middle of the season by the Falcons, he'll probably be much cheaper than that contract he signed in Atlanta. He never had problems at Purdue or with Minnesota, so I'm not worried about whatever happened in Atlanta.
