OK. Red, I know I am only an occasional vísitor (on account of time difference) and not every game is WS Gm6, so view my comments with that in mind, but this site has lagged a lot tonight (and previously) and someone has already posted that an audio feed/conference call/skype would be awesome. Any thoughts on the future of Savinggrady.com? World domination?

And that Demuth geezer? I have never witnessed a home plate umpire performance like that. I honestly had no idea which way each pitch was going to be called. It was a shocking performance coming a couple of days after his laughable second base call. This the World Series for fuck sake!

8 months, 4 weeks ago on Game Three Aftermath: Bang and Blame (Umpires, Farrell, Breslow, Salty, etc.)

Reply

Yup. A number of management mistakes(says the armchair fan 4000 miles away). Removing Peavey after a big momentum shift? Nah, leave him to tough it out, he was looking pretty good after the effort to keep a 0 in the 4th. Once the change is made Doubont looked great, so leave him in longer...there just seemed a great deal of pitching changes for little benefit and then leaving Workmanin to bat at the top of the ninth? WHAT? One run at that point wins the game and giving up an AB just seemed mad. Their vaunted bullpen is rookey, our clutch batters take them, give Napoli a chance for Pete's sake.

One further moan, I honestly think Drew gets the out that Bogaerts doesn't (the late, wide throw to Papi) and Middlebrooks adds nothing to the batting. So the infield change I'm not so sure about. Drew is giving nothing at the plate but his defence is fantastic.

After listening to Joe Suck for 2 games and 2 innings I was desperate for a 1-0 Lackey W, Verlander L.  Not 6-5 or 20-6, but 1-0.  Just to hear what Buck and McCarver would salivate about.

You don't have to beat the starter to win the game.  It just so happened last night that Lackey did.  It was wonderful.
