@KawhiLights Why do you have Duncan on the bench?

1 year, 3 months ago on Spurs still atop shifting Western Conference, barely

@jojo707 Definitely agree with you and Boo-J about getting a wing too. Roberson would be good. So would C.J. Leslie from NC State. He's very Jeff Green-ish, which is pretty good if you're getting a guy with the 30th pick in the draft and not the 5th pick.

1 year, 7 months ago on Gorgui Dieng likely to declare, would make a great Spur

Reply

@VKJackson Great points. I also didn't quite understand Splitter's inclusion because wouldn't a competitive guy like Ty Corbin want to start Splitter and therefore still limit opportunities for Kanter and Favors?

1 year, 8 months ago on Al Jefferson panic button engaged!

Reply

@kmgospurs Agreed. Could see either scenario playing out.

1 year, 8 months ago on Spurs summer plans will hinge on Ginobili

Reply

@TrueSpursFan Yeah, as big of a fan as I am of Roberson, if they could get Dieng at the end of the first round or early in the second, it'd be a steal for what they need.

@Spursfan66  @nanaboomadie I think Richards is done in Europe. From everything I've read he didn't like it and it didn't like him.  Really do expect to see him in Austin before the end of the year, though that's nothing more than an educated guess at this point.

@staydwninsatwn I was probably being a bit optimistic. Hoping he can be more effective against second units who aren't elite defenders, but who knows. His second half was a lot better than his first half, but 5 TOs...

2 years, 2 months ago on Team USA trounces Parker led France (the live diary edition!) | July

Reply

@kmgospurs No, it was always Tim's team, then Manu's team in 2011 when he finished in the top 10 in MVP voting. Then it became Tony's team this past season (though I'd argue it'll be Tim's team till he retires).

2 years, 2 months ago on Parker talks trasition to being team leader | July

Reply

@russman138 No I see what you're saying. Was just a little confused at first. I could absolutely see him making at least a couple All-Star games.

2 years, 3 months ago on How Kawhi spent his summer | July

Reply

@russman138 No worries. I never questioned his work ethic or ability to get better, It just seemed like in March that was his trajectory because of how his placement in the Spurs offense (not to mention to non-stop comparisons to Bowen). The other part of the equation is that the Spurs have had a guy of Kawhi's individual talents in so long that it was incredibly easy for a lot of us, myself included, to understate a guy like Kawhi's ability to grow. Seriously, the last non-international lottery talent the Spurs got was Tim Duncan, a once in a generation guy.  I'm still curious to see him work on some of these moves in the regular season, but yeah, I'm happy to say it looks like he's going to be better than Tony Allen with a jump shot.

Also, just want to be clear, you're not implying he's going to become LeBron/Durant good, right?

2 years, 3 months ago on How Kawhi spent his summer | July

Reply

@russman138 Look, I think I said it in March, when all they did was plant him in the corner. I've definitely turned the corner now, especially after seeing him in person in Vegas. He's capable of much more.

2 years, 3 months ago on Things to look for in Las Vegas | July

@inmortal He'd be a great Spur, but he's not going to clear the amnesty waiver wire. Indiana, Dallas and Portland all have plenty of cap space to place a bid on him. I would love him in a Spurs jersey though.

Definitely more of a face up big man and he has great touch around the basket. He also came up big for Georgetown during the Big East Tournament. Doesn't shy away from the moment. He'd be a great 2nd round pick up.

@rtesoro440 The Splitter trade is an idea I had, but hasn't been floated anywhere past this site. The Spurs can't trade Green since he is a restricted free agent. Trading Stephen Jackson is tough because 90% of the league thinks only Pop can coach him, plus he was big for the Spurs in the playoffs and his expiring contract will give the Spurs cap space next summer.

2 years, 4 months ago on Vegas Summer League schedule released, Spurs open against Hawks | June

I'd love it, but the economics don't add up.  Both Duncan and Garnett are going to want probably two year deals in the $10 million range. Spurs won't have that cap space until next summer.

2 years, 4 months ago on Spurs to consider Garnett? | June

Reply

@isaacd35 Yeah, I wrote it about 90 minutes after the game, so def more emotion then normal. Also not saying they should actively try to blow this thing up, but if the right deal for TP came along, at least think about pulling the trigger.

It was Manu's team last year.  He was incredible last year and I would argue there's maybe been one or two other seasons since Tony & Manu came to the Spurs that TP has been better than Manu, but that's just my opinon.

I'd rather see the Clippers for a CP3-TP match up. Plus their size isn't as much of an issue as Memphis.  But mostly the more CP3 we all get to see the better.

I don't usually go in like this, but since my name was invoked, what the hell.  So let me get this straight, Tiago Splitter is the Spurs second best big guy and you want him buried on the bench and you want Matt Bonner, who averaged 21 mpg in the playoffs last season to get more minutes on a team that is deeper and more versatile?  I also can't see Blair's minutes nearly doubling from the 12 mpg he played last season when again, this team is deeper and more versatile than last year's team.  If anything, Blair and Bonner will each get around 15 mpg, same for Tiago, maybe a little more and the Spurs will play small ball with Kawhi, SJax and Duncan at the end of the game.

This makes me wonder if the Spurs think Kawhi could play SG.  Leonard and Batum defending the perimeter would be fun to watch.  But I agree with everyone else that he's either going to cost too much or the Blazers would match whatever the Spurs would offer.

@rtesoro440 That's not true. He played a year at Michigan State and decided at 19 he'd rather be closer to home.  Surely you're not holding that against him almost a decade later.

@rtesoro440  @AlvinPatacsil We're not going to find Duncan's heir apparent with the 26th pick in the draft. The Spurs can also always trade back in to the draft. Look at how this season worked out with Kawhi.

2 years, 7 months ago on Hanga continues his steady play overseas | March

Reply

@spursfan80 Yeah, I see what you're saying. I do feel like he was put on a short leash this season mostly because he wasn't shooting well. This is just me, but I don't see a giant difference between him and Danny Green. One just has a ton of confidence and the other doesn't, and I think the coaching staff is a little to blame for that.

2 years, 8 months ago on About that James Anderson problem... | February

@josespurs Tony Parker and Matt Bonner works in the trade machine. Not sure the Spurs would do that considering the way Parker is playing (NBA.com has him 9th in their MVP ratings), but a trio of Duncan/Pau/Splitter down low would be the best in the West.
