Good points on all. Classic is a dinosaur and needs to be re-branded and brought to HD so that HD snobs like me won't have to look for it for the material you are talking about. They do a lot of great work and it needs to be highlighted more.
Or they could create ESPN Debate that could lead to end of civilization.

You may need to do a part 2 of this. Or an updated version of the post. This hashtag is awesome!

Just imagine how mad he would have been had he known about missed illegal formation call on 2nd and goal. It was a hell of a lot easier to convert 3rd and goal from 1 ft line than having the ball on the 6 yd line with 3 chances. I don't think Texas would have scored if the penalty was called.

For a league that wants each game to be highlighted, it seems counter-intuitive for the NFL to believe that football fans would want to stay up until 1am for a Week 1 game between a west-coast team and another team that unfortunately has to play on the west coast on a Monday night.
For those living in the central (non-Texan fans) and eastern time zones, it had to be a struggle to stay up and watch. And plenty of people live in those time zones who don't care about the Texans, Chargers and Chris Berman in Week 1.
I love football, but I also love sleep and I love $$. If my team were playing, I'd watch, but since they weren't I turned it off so I could be productive at work the next day. I mean...it's week 1. I was able to watch 2 highlight shows to actually tell me who won.
I'm sure I wasn't the only one.

They should cancel whatever is on CBS Sports Network and just show the Johnny Cam during the whole game.

What's next? American announcer picking Hull City and Crystal Palace in the FA Cup?
Unfortunately there are too many Mehtas in the world of journalism in all areas of reporting. Bias in reporting is everywhere and unfortunately it has become a game of who can scream the loudest. Especially in the desperate world of traditional print journalism.
Also, anyone going after someone's family in any manner is a line that should never be crossed in journalism and is as unprofessional as anyone can get. A father watching a son's game is of no one's concern.
Finally, this isn't 1980. I'm sure Rex took care of his business before he left for the game. If he didn't, I'm sure Rex can afford a smartphone or tablet to accomplish anything and everything he needed to do before the game started, kept up with it during the game and continued to work after the game. He didn't have to be in New York/New Jersey to do his job. I'm surprised a "journalist" like Mehta can't figure that you can do that in this day and age.

Agreed...only saw the last 3 and saw Clayton/Slayer at 2 and wondered what was #1 and thought of the many Steiner spots...and then saw the Cano spot at #1. Really? No way that is best. What a waste of time. Which, for the exception of their live sports and select shows, is what ESPN now is.

The Pro Bowl is abysmal to watch, yet I still do. The Pro Bowl isn't a real football game anyway so whatever they want to do to spice it up so be it. Including deciding which conference will provide snow plows for the Super Bowl. I'm intrigued and will watch.
As for the MLB All Star Game...that game is dead to me. Has been since 2003. I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks so...FACT.

I saw something similar a week or two ago and thought the exact same thing. Brilliant move by Fox Sports. They pray for rain delays and ESPN's bounce around coverage.

How about they just show SportsCenter on ESPNEWS 24/7 instead of live sports programming. I still wouldn't watch since SportsCenter is all crap now but at least it's news channel could present "news" instead of live events. This would be better than placing non-important sports on a news channel. OR they could stop bidding on unimportant sports and let other sports channels build their inventory of live events instead of outbidding them and banishing those sports to the news channel or ESPN3.

ESPN was real quick to label this news as an "ESPN Report". Hopefully they can learn to to the same when news breaks on other outlets and give them credit. Doubt it though.

It was one of the great episodes. My favorites in the series will include this one along with Once Brothers, The Two Escobars, Pony Excess (with Skip Bayless! in it) and the Ghosts of Ole Miss.
