It's criminal the Macca isn't winning this in a landslide. F1 is basically the greatest car ever made people!

@SMRacing Don't forget the trailer and tow vehicle, weekend tire and travel budgets, spares etc. "Going racing" is not a cheap way of modifying a car. Fun, but racing and "as cheap as possible" don't really go together.

Suspension, wheels/tires, exhaust. Fill in the cracks with some inexpensive OEM + or rare miscelleaneus doo dads to keep the day to day fun factor and interest level up. Then the real $$ decisions need to made if the car is worth serious money for added power or transmission upgrades. On FWD cars IMO a LSD is arguably the best thing I have done, also one of the most expensive single parts. Some cars just don't have the potential to justify that level of involvement. At some point polishing the turd of a motor you might have vs a swap becomes an issue as well. For me the big thing is finding a way to get more enjoyment out of the car day to day, some cars that means not fooling with them much, others need a ton of work/care, still more need to be sold for a different car entirely before you get too far down the road.

@Ben Chandler Hey you guys are on VAG overload over there, a sea of 8-24V's probably all run together in your head after a while.

I like that the rear fender scoops are blended into the body again. That annoyed me given the price that they were plastic inserts in the last few generations. Overall looks clean and semi-understated as the turbo has become of late.

@goon Their pricing is based on their market. They have people lined up for each new edition of the 911, regardless of how they price it. They can basically charge whatever they want. Just like the other luxury and supercar brands.

@PCYang They don't really have a choice when it comes to things like start/stop. They have to meet gov't mandated efficiency targets imposed on their entire range of vehicles.

I'm not aure what to make of the 964 but I do know that Phone Dial's with gold studs are bad-ass.

I don't think that's a 20V 1.8T in the rocco. It doesn't have the angled bump in the valve cover and it seems odd they would convert to a distributor set-up. Great cars keep the shots coming!

I can appreciate the crazy fabrication, but this thing seems like kind of a confused mess. Seems like it's trying to be a little bit of everything but in the end I'm not sure what they wound up with? I do love these Scandinavian maniac builds though. For such a seemingly stayed, sterile culture they have a wild imagination when it comes to cars.

Great photo's and write-up. Worthersee is a definate bucket list trip for me. As a long time VW hack it's a pilgremmage I will make one day. We have some locals here in the midwest of the USA that make the trip every year and rave about the people, the scenery, and of course the cars. Enjoy the trip, it should be a memory maker. Thanks for taking us along for the ride!

@jake Laird LOL "stance people" tons of cars with that styling have all kinds of motor work done. None the less running a 911 to it's top speed (and likely holding it pegged for a bit) is not hard to do on the autobahn, especially at night. You may not like the styling but plenty of those cars are running safe set-ups and were built and being driven by people that know what they are doing.

You have 12 Volks I have none. I must be doing something wrong LOL. Congrats on the new purchase. I'm a big fan of colored wheels for track use. They aren't going to be used a ton so why not have a little fun with it? The metallic finish on them on should look pretty good with the Nissan blue.

@xczillon I don't see coilovers as overkill. Just because you have them doesn't mean you have to dump the car. After having various quality shock/spring combos on many cars, IMO coils are worth the extra money for the ride comfort and adjustability. That said buying quality stuff is the key. KW, H&R, Bilstein, Koni, Eibach etc. shock/spring combos are going to make you happier than garbage off brand coilovers.. As always if it's a matter of budget just buy the best stuff you can afford.

@jake Laird Stop being a tard. Wiki lists the top speed for NA 964's between 159 and 163 mph. Seeing an indicated 160mph is not hard to believe. Maybe Rotiform guy doesn't roll stock either ..

APR and a nice set of coilovers is really all you need. After that you can get as carried away as the wife will allow. :)

Edit: The front grill would look sweet molded into the bumper I bet.

Very cool car, but the little front grill thing sitting awkwardly on the bumper bothers me. That motor is BA, for a relatively mild build that is a crap ton of power.

@cmsgt4 These wheels started me on the path to acquiring a set of Compomotive Type MO's for my last car. Nothing beats a clean full face 5 spoke wheel for me.
