@ChuckMartin1 @raitchison Exact same thinking I had when buying my Focus, the Mk1 Focus had already been made and sold in Europe for more than a year with relatively few problems so I figured I was safe. As it turns out Ford changed a lot of things when they brought it over (some to make it cheaper for the U.S. market, some just to source parts from local suppliers) and almost everything they changed resulted in a problem or recall.

As a previous owner of a MY2000 Focus I learned firsthand that the stereotype about "first year Fords" has a whole lotta truth behind it. At least mine was built in Hermosillo instead of Wayne.
