@miendiem Hmmm...that's a strong point about the team's depth at C. I suppose there are some variables there, however, which could present itself in the free agent market. Team might have to go after a cheaper option if they plan on keeping Steen and signing Halak/Elliott.
I also imagine the cap will rise, but I doubt the STL owners want to spend more considering the disappointing attendance. That fact alone might push Berglund out if push comes to shove.
4 days, 13 hours ago on Is Patrik Berglund worthy of a new contract?
@LGB42 I'm not sure you read the article. No where is a trade advocated for. Simply, the rumor is discussed. The Blues can not spend more due to their cap situation, so the investment would remain the same.

Agree with The Hat.
However, I would caveat the "winning fixes everything" to "winning in the playoffs fixes everything." They've shown they can win in the regular season now. Just not more than 2 games in post season since what, 04?
Regarding the sales team, they've recently created a "Client Development Team." I received a new STH Account Rep in early October. She has been contacting me frequently with information, offers, and is quite friendly. Not dealt with her enough to know about the accommodation part yet. NOTE: My last STH Rep was also quite friendly and she WAS accommodating regarding my requests and listening to my concerns.
I've heard horror stories of poor customer service, with flat out lack of caring and empathy from the Blues office. They've lost a dozen STHs due to their lack of "interest" and caring that I know personally. Several others that I've heard about.
Sorry this comment was directed at the STH side. But points to issues with retaining and taking care of their core. STHs.

@miendiem If we're talking business, the NHL would be wise to view it as an investment of their own. Odds are these kids will remain fans and will more than return their investment over the years as they buy merchandise, tickets and other NHL items. Also it's a great PR move. Invest early!

@miendiem Two great ideas. Why not use voices associated with the team?

@miendiem I personally think every NHL arena should have an organ which they make full use of after a goal. Should be a requirement. That's one thing the Blues do right.

@miendiem King Henrik's slow start is definitely one of the most surprising stories. Have to wonder if the contract is playing with his mind more than he is letting on. I expected the Rangers to make the playoffs with ease. Their early blowouts are almost shocking.

@miendiem I think it's kind of like Tampa Bay: They're almost always lacking defense and strong goaltending. Tampa Bay made some improvements in net, but Edmonton is...Edmonton.

@miendiem I knew we'd be one of the shortest teams, but I was really surprised to see we were one of the heaviest. I assumed with guys like Sobotka, Schwartz, Tarasenko and company that we'd be in the middle of the pack or one of the lightest, but alas, I was incorrect.

@DougAndPattiDory Appreciate the insight. I think it'll take time for him to adjust, but I have high hopes for him here in St. Louis. Thanks for sharing your views!

@miendiem I agree. Joe Buck just doesn't sound like St. Louis Blues hockey. it's as if the team just went with him to get the "Hey, that's Joe Buck" factor as opposed to what sounds the best. I think a voice of old, or a play-by-play of old set with modern footage would've been nice. Sort of a flip from last year's ads.
I think your Hull bet is extremely safe. It's a perfect idea which fits in quite well. If they're not planning something like that, they certainly should be.

@miendiem I think you handled the learning curve extremely well. Head-to-head leagues have a larger learning curve than other leagues (in my opinion) and they force you to check it almost every day. Don't think you can fly under the radar this year, sir!
3 months, 3 weeks ago on David Backes should rebound in 2013-14
@miendiem Ha, that's so true. I fully expect ever St. Louis player to be drafted by the end of the third round. Silly, but it's fun.
@miendiem That prediction is interesting not only for the Blues, but also for the world of fantasy hockey. If he's able to score 25+ and put up 100+ penalty minutes, Backes would be one incredibly valuable asset this season.
@miendiem The big question is, what do you honestly expect from Backes this year? In terms of goals and assists, let's hear your projection.
I'll say 20-25 goals and 35-45 assists. I know my ranges are kind of large, but that gives me more room for error. It's interesting to see how he put up so many assists (22) in just 48 games. In his last full season he only had 30. I wonder if this has something to do with his shots hitting off the goalie before being punched in by someone else, but I'm not about to take the time to go figure that out.
