@mshah9008 hard to read while going live, is tl;dr just "easier camp schedule" ?

@mshah9008 that might be a fair comparison. I won't be able to say until I see them play.

@authorbeard totally giving up, no. I'm not asking for a new OLB, I'm asking for a DE who can rush the passer. Wouldn't infringe on Werner at all

@Pied@hankster@AJ_@thejoshbakerThe backup will be "good" based on the pieces around him.

a $4-million Hasselbeck wasn't winning 1 game with Rogers, Brazill, Richardson, McGlynn, and Satele around him.

But a Josh McCown can win a bunch of games while making only 800k because he has Jeffery, Marshall, Forte, etc... around him.

@WyattLI think the team, to be blunt, is in love with their record. They see 11-5 as meaning they are very close. They may be very close, but I don't think they're as close as they think they are.

That said, I do think Grigson understands there are holes and will do his best to fill them, I just hope he approaches it a tad differently this time around.

@Bobman1:)

First, thanks for the kind comments, I know you read FO a lot, and I've always enjoyed your commentary there, so for you to be reading my stuff and not absolutely killing me is quite the compliment.

It's going to be a combined effort to attack what the Patriots are doing. I think the combination of Fleener down the middle and Brown underneath SHOULD, if executed properly, be too much for the defense to handle.

I also agree that Brown should be able to find success in the running game. I temper those expectations, though - and I didn't write about it because of this - I wonder how much the injuries to the middle of the Patriots defense are negated by the ineptitude of the Colts interior OL?

The Colts should be able to hit one or two nice runs up the middle on their trap plays, and if Brown can keep his footing (cold and rainy in the forecast), he might break one.

I always have trouble with these games as I'm writing about them, because, while I research the opponent, I'm writing them heavily-slanted on the Colts side, and I always finish thinking, "geez, we should win this game."

While I was able to back off of that feeling a little when I finished this, I certainly walked away thinking that there would be plenty of opportunity for the Colts to win it. I certainly think they belong on the field with New England.

@Bobman1Belichick actually spends a majority of his time at the US Patent/Trademark office claiming rights to various forms of physical abuse. It's a strange obsession of his.

@Bobman1 That's what I was thinking when I was doing the injury report. It's always BS, but every person listed is a starter. If even one of them is accurate, it's a big deal.

I just asked RB Donald Brown on the field about the play when Luck recovered the fumble and jumped in for TD: "Exactly how we drew it up."

@hankster @mattshedd @matt_has Let's change the wording. The Colts aren't relying on one player.

They are relying on 53.  Each of those 53 have a role to perform.  Andrew Luck, as the person who touches the ball on every play, is the person who can most-affect the outcome of games. It's his job to do what it takes to score points. It's the job of the other 10 offensive players to support him in that endeavor.

Andrew Luck should be the focal point of what the 11 on offense do. Not Richardson. Not Brown. Not Havili. Luck.  If they truly believe 6 OL, a FB, and 1 WR is the best way to support Luck, well, okay, but I would respectfully disagree.

@Bobman1 @GregC hm. I guess I'm not articulating it properly. it's just a request/hope that they try to lean on the passing game and push those guys to be better, give more.

@Bobman1 on the surface this seems like a silly statement, but juxtapose it with what's happening in the running game:

They continue to refer to Trent Richardson as the stud #3 overall pick out of Alabama despite the fact he's never shown that ability.  What i'm saying is, now's not the time to hide DHB. Players like that, they want to prove they were worth that pick, that praise. Give him the chance to prove it.

@Bobman1 yep, T3p0 is Trent Richardson 3.0.  OR a bubbling running back whose primary function is etiquette and protocol, not gaining yards. YOU NEVER KNOW

@smonroe it IS illegal if he doesn't have a prescription for it. Since he was suspended, I will go ahead and guess that he wasn't taking it legally because if you have a prescription you ARE allowed to take Adderrall and play in the NFL.

@smonroeI didn't mention recreational or PED either way!

This is the problem with stupid twitter, it doesn't allow for me to be as verbose as possible! /s

Saunders got busted for adderall use, which is a bit of a gray area. Right now, it's considered a PED, but ProFootballTalk published a report saying it was likely to be moved to the regular substance abuse program.

Either way, if it's PEDs, he's a bit of a cheater, which I still think falls under the morals/ethics!

:P

As I posted it (not wrote it, I wrote it last night) the Colts promoted Griff Whalen and signed C Thomas Austin to the practice squad.
