I just linked over from blogussion and saw this post which i wanted to comment on. I think alot of businesses, big and small, especially those run by middle management, get bogged down in checklists and getting stuff done because that's the way they've always done things and that's what has worked for them. There's always product development and marketing development, but rarely any future thought going into how to make meetings better. There's a great book on the market called Brain Rules which professes a change in the way we live to bring maximum creativity to our life. THe author suggests changing meeting times (and class times) not to go over 50 minutes, with a change in format every 10 minutes to keep the brain interested and engaged. An interesting concept. You're right though. If people put a little more thought into trying to innovate meetings we might just be able to get a little more creative with our businesses.
