Native 'Burgher now living in Ohio without cable. I started using hockeystreams.com for the playoffs last year (since
GameCenter blacks them out). It was great. You get a lot of local feeds
(so I had to deal with a-hole Filthadelphia announcers at times), but it
was good to have the game available. It's been very reliable, and it's
been good to watch Geno and company in the KHL while waiting for the NHL
to start. I primarily watch it on an iPad 2, and since then on a Google
Nexus 7 (with HSDroid app). Both work great and with good quality. I've also watched it on a laptop, and it was fine. If
you look at hockeystreams.com, they have all the NHL games scheduled
this year as HD streams. At around $100/year, it's also a better deal
than GameCenter (which is normally well over $100). The customer support
is pretty weak, but I really haven't had a lot of issues. I do suggest
that you have at least 3MB/sec download speed for the best quality and no
hiccups in playback. You can also try it for a day to see if you like
the service.
