@Barney G Even when he was "good", I never got the fascination with him.

I like winning.  It's, like, better than losing.

If they trade Pederson+Seager for Lester, I'm turning off baseball for the rest of the year.

@Purple Drank (2014 MSTY Poster of the Year) Me too.  Wilson doesn't have enough control, and Morse is struggling but still a good hitter.

@Purple Drank (2014 MSTY Poster of the Year) @baeksu Then we'd better not put Jansen out there against Blanco or Crawford.  Seriously, sometimes you just go with the better pitcher.

Why not go Wilson in the 7th against the weaker hitters and Howell against the teeth of their offense here?  Ugh.

@PagansOedipalComplex Wouldn't surprise me.  Depends on if the pitcher's spot comes up to bat.

1 run lead with 3 innings of relief pitching ahead.  Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue.

@athanatos @PagansOedipalComplex Verlander for Ethier seems really really lopsided in our favor.

@DavidGriffBecerra Honestly, to me he's the most mediocre of them all.  Puig is Puig, SVS is getting better, and at least Crawford has a bit of speed.  Kemp has not lived up to his contract but has still been, pretty clearly, our 2nd best outfielder.

Just got home from anniversary dinner with the wife and I'm still logging in.  How is Vogelsong's no-hit bid going?

I never would have guessed that SVS had played the most innings at CF since CC's return.  Thanks for the article.

It's really all a moot point until someone gets traded, though.  And we're not going to trade someone unless we eat a lot of Ethier's or Kemp's or Crawford's salary.

Is just me, or have teams been playing the shift way, way more often this year than ever before?

@Purple Drank (2014 MSTY Poster of the Year) @baeksu My only reservation about SP is that it'll probably require a higher price tag in terms of prospects, and in the playoffs you really don't need 5 (or even 4) starters.

The bullpen just has so few options, it's difficult to ever feel good about anyone other than Jansen and Howell.  But maybe that can be fixed internally.

To me, CF was a problem in last year's playoffs, and it has only gotten worse.

So what's our greatest need, if you had to choose just one spot being fixed via trade?  SP, RP, or CF?

@efb @DBrim I can tell you, as a left-handed thrower, that LF is more difficult for me to play than RF.  Awkward throws and turning your body around after chasing something to the corner and all that.  Similar to the reason that you never see a left-handed thrower playing 3B or SS.

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks that we don't need to trade prospects to get another stating pitcher.  To me, bullpen and a center fielder (if you can unload one of our half-dozen corner outfielders) are much more pressing needs.

@Jobu Opposite.  When you have a known quantity like Lee, you want him to do something like that so perhaps it lowers the price.

@Condorave @Purple Drank  @Mike Petriello @Iron Brian I agree.  I'm a huge Kemp fan - have followed him since his high school days.  But he strikes out a ton and plays poor defense, so it can't just boil down to a somewhat productive bat.  I'm just frustrated with him.
