Had anyone in the media taken 2 seconds to realize Kesler would not be traded in division(Anaheim) nor would say St. Louis trade for yet another 2 way center who had not scored over 50 points in 3 years?  Statsny may cloud the market but Kesler is largely irrelevant to the spezza move.

Being a budget team is not a surprise. To an extent they may be preparing for next year, Silfverburg/Cowen/Greening/Conacher/Lehner are all up for new contracts and the 1st round picks have contracts which pay at least a million.

Boro/Weircioch could easily flip spots, Maclean had each player play 2 practices with either Gonchar or Phillips.

@ChrisBurke  @Nichols6thSens  @Dennis_Prouse Ceci is at least 2 years away. He wont play this year or next. Ottawa will be making a decision on a need for a top 4 defenceman soon.

@Nichols6thSens  @Dennis_Prouse I think the decision to play some of the Bingo boys also reflects the organization going forward. Karlsson/Methot/Cowen are locks for the next 3 years in our D. They need to know now, how much they actually need to go out and fill from the market to be a contender.  If Weircioch (whom Maclean has noted as easily being the best of the 3 D in Bingo) can fill in that spot in the top 4 this year , and assuming Boro in the organization is to fill Phillips stop in the bottom pair PK,  the Sens may only need to add a depth defencman going forward for the 5-6 slot. If Weirioch plays adaquately /mediocre in the top 4 role, the Murrays are likely to go in free agency/trade for next season.

I assume Benoit is a 6-7D at best like Carkner was.

In fairness to the hot dogs, food under Melnyk has improved about %200 during his tenure. Its all overpriced, but it has vastly improved. Love the roast beef places added to the upper levels.

I also understand that my argument raises the question of where Chris Neil plays.

Z. Smith excelled on the wing in the Calder Cup run. Its entirely possible they play them there if the Walrus deemd Regin the best choice on the 3rd line..
