Just tweeted you abt my experience with this guy's site. I went on it to defend our guys after game 3 and got the predictable responses. As I tweeted, I really hate their fans and announcers and apologists (see NBC bcast last night for the WORST bias I've ever heard from those 3 jokers, two of which got paid by the team they so outwardly support, and an aside to that, the games called by Kenny Albert, who IS employed by MSG, were about as fairly called as anyone could ever hear). I wanted this series so bad as a fan, but they are just taking it to us. Their suspect D is having a better series, and we don't have anyone upfront to match their top guys. A shame, particularly for Hank who is doing his best which isn't good enough to steal a game. No one is stepping up.

You still can't give away a 23 year old dman who has shown flashes of exactly who we need on the blue line. This is a trade that will burn the Rangers badly I feel if made.
7 months ago on Del Zotto's Agents to Discuss Trade With Rangers
HE'S A 23 YEAR OLD DMAN #1 PICK.
Let me repeat: he's 23, playing the hardest position in hockey. He was totally screwed up by his last coach but was arguably the Rangers' best dman for the first half of the travesty that was last year and at other points in his short career to date. Sather cannot trade him, period. It would be beyond stupid. Then why not trade McIlraith as others drafted ahead of him are already accomplished players in the NHL. No logic there either.
Now for a dman that other teams hopefully still think has value, I offer Dan Girardi. Have to believe a team like the Oilers would take him in a heartbeat. He was used and abused and spit out in Torts' system. While he still makes the odd good play, for an undrafted player who was an all-star we got more than anyone ever expected out of G. Let's get whatever we can from what's left.

Hey Tim. One thing I'm thinking about is taking the subjectivity out of the judging. In the Vera fight I'm sure JCC won rounds because he threw HARDER punches, albeit very few of them, but the judges rewarded that. Keep that as one of the scoring criteria, of course, but on a sliding scale. More blows landed should outweigh one or two hard punches that landed in a round. Of the pittypat variety, no, but Vera's would not be considered that by anyone I don't think. There are many ways to go with that. Breaking a round into thirds. My favorite would be having all three officials watch the same fight in one location either at the ring or on TV monitors, therefore seeing the exact same thing. Maybe we'd have less of this nonsense.

@greyskies67 the only guy I suggested trading was Boyle. Girardi right now is worthless.
1 year, 4 months ago on Maybe This Is How Good the Rangers Really Are
As everything above points out, last year's team is vastly different than this year's team. There is no comparison. That said, this idiot of a coach still thinks it is last year's team and just expects this team to do what last year's team did. It ain't gonna happen. Early in the season I wrote somewhere that this team was the only team in the league that didn't have five D averaging double figure minutes. Don't know what it is now but I suspect it has inched into having six D with 10 mins or more. Maybe not. A bigger fact is there's no Michael Sauer. He was huge for us in the absence of Staal. Right now there's no Staal, who had been our best dman by far this season. Girardi, who I've advocated trading the last few years because he was at his highest value then, has regressed because of all the minutes he's played the last few seasons and the pain he hides on an everyday basis this year. McDonagh is not the same after that hit that took him out for a few games. His decision making is, well, the decision making of a 2nd year dman. Our best dmen, MDZ and Stralman, cannot be your best dmen if you expect to contend. Ditto for our now best 3rd dman, Steve Eminger. Start there. This coach seems not to want to see the reality and still has this year's team trying to play like last year's team. The difference is the offensive talent we have, starting with No. 61. I don't think any team, on paper at least, has a top six like the Rangers. 61, 19, 62, 19, 10 and 24 are pretty fucking good. Let 'em loose. Throw in JT and bring back Kreids and your top eight are dangerous. 19 will get better. Giving #10 the benefit of the doubt here, he has to be able to play better with a different coach/coaching style. I like Powe, Pyatt and Halpern to shut teams down. Boyle's gotta go. Hank will stop most of the mistakes. This team should be able to outscore most on any given night. They won't win otherwise. Probably won't even make the POs if they don't.
@KevinDeLury I know, Kevin, but we have to do something to combat bettman's belief that "the fans will always come back," like we're sheep. I'm fed up. I will NEVER step foot in the Garden again, and for me and my son that's tragic but I'm done. For us to act like it's not a big deal, making up scores, watching games repeated on the nhl network or msg, that shows that we will come back. I won't even wear a NYR cap in the street. Make a dent in the TV ratings and that will show something else is up. I feel like I'm fighting this battle by myself. @occupythenhl

This isn't funny. Games are canceled, treat them that way. Don't try to keep people coming to this site by having "fun" imagining how the games would turn out. I know it's depressing but it should be. I am really fucking mad how everyone is making light of this in some way to make it palatable.
@TomUrtzNYR I'd love a 2nd/3rd line combo of Step, Kreids and Hags, and then Boyle, Doan and Cally. That top 9 rivals anyone in the league's, including flyers.
2 years ago on Rangers Still In Play for Doan | July
If Torts doesn't continue to use Artie as his scapegoat for everything that goes wrong with his team, he actually might build some confidence and show what he can do. And he can do a hell of a lot. Already terrific defensively, he will be a consistent 20+ goal scorer IF Torts gives him the same room to grow as he did with MDZ this past year. As far as Stepan, he had a fine 2nd season. Still hit a wall at the end of the season as he had in his rookie year, but can only get better. Kreids and Step and Hags is the first line of the future NYR.
2 years, 1 month ago on Could Management Give Up On Anisimov Or Stepan This Summer?
Wow. Besides the top two, who I think would have been at the top of their class in any era, this is an indictment of the state of boxing as it exists now. Not much to speak of. They all have as many positives about their game as they do negatives.

I'd play Scott tonight so he can kick the shit out of Neil, get thrown out and then we can play the rest of the game like we have to. We HAVE to make a statement tonight. Ottawa thinks they can push the Rangers around, as they have the entire series. Tonight's the last chance to show some cojones.

@maxie and Mike Green who kills us, when he's healthy. No thanks. I'd be happy to finish 4th.

meant to say "whether they are looking."
Who sits when Artie gets back? Any forward not playing on first line or named Callahan. I'm also wondering, despite Torts' claim to the contrary, that they are looking at the standings. Who would want to face Ovi in the first round?
Last few games I've seen Kreider play he looks kind of disinterested. Not as compelling a player as I had seen earlier in the year and even last year. Wonder if he's already left school in his head.
2 years, 4 months ago on Kreider In Hockey East Finals Tonight | March
We can dream, can't we? LOL.
Looks like it pains Torts to give Zucc any credit, but he had to last night. Amazing that two new elements went into the PP and it ended up working pretty well. Is this gonna be the one that finally gets it going consistently? Don't know about you, but I've seen this movie before and it always ends the same way. Hope he keeps Zucc in the lineup even when Cally returns. Who sits? Feds or Rupp? I'm really worried about DZ's injury. Hip pointers are pretty painful and prevent a lot of movement that's essential for a dman.
2 years, 4 months ago on Torts Finally Listens to Me | March
@KevinDeLury Thanks, Kevin. Like I said, I hope this is an aberration they got out of their system. Although I am worried about Girardi. He got 3 or 4 shifts in the 3rd. Funny thing is I thought his game turned this season when Staal came back. He went from being THE guy on D to the one that held it together until THE REAL guy on D came back. Ottawa and Chicago are going to be tough. Pitt probably will win tomorrow and go to 6 points behind us, and with Crosby coming back (bet he makes his return vs us??) they scare the crap out of me.

@KevinDeLury Do you agree with my assessment of this game?
MSG used my tweet on the air and Brian Leetch dissed me because of what I said. Is that cool, or what?
Anyone who says they're sick of Mitchell hasn't watched a Ranger game. He's become a very important, smart player, in his limited ice time. Now, his linemate Rupp is another story. Playing hurt now, as he did in the beginning of the season, he's a waste of a roster space. Maybe Rupp sits and Moore plays those "huge" five minutes a game Rupp gets. Ok, thanks for the goals in the WC but enjoy the bench.

@KevinDeLury@Volcom955 Hop on my Jeff Carter bandwagon. I've been tweeting that for weeks now and really hope it could come true. Getting rid of the useless dubi and WW would cover the cap space, and we're losing some cap hits next yr, i.e Feds, 1/2 dru's salary, a few dmen, so i don't think we'd be burdened by Carter's cap hit. His injuries aren't a concern. Just his head. But going to Columbus could put anyone in a funk. I remember once a few years back he was the only guy on that team (flyers) that had anything positive to say about the Rangers. Bring Jeff Carter to New York!!!!

2 years, 10 months ago on Winter Classic to be Announced at 1:30pm!!!! | September
i think nyr have the winter classic jersey under their white sweater. notice the blue around the cuff on cally.
I disagree about Nyemi. I thought he was very good tonight, made some real good first passes and controlled the puck much better. In a game that was very physical, he showed much more than Parlett did tonight. And Miller had a strong game tonight. So far he's proven to be a great pick.
2 years, 10 months ago on Traverse City Review: Risers And Fallers
@AnnoyingJoe He's shown to be willing to block pucks but that doesn't make a dman. he's also shown to be a disaster at times on coverage and doesn't always make the best decision with the puck. I know he's developed something with Staal, but from where DG started (ECHL) to now, we've gotten more than anyone could have thought from him. His upside is nil. He could be a valuable commodity from that perspective.
3 years ago on Rangers Will Get Buyout Window After Callahan Signing | July
The only thing that makes sense from the NYR in my opinion to regain cap space is to trade Girardi and EC for some picks, optimally a 1st but more than likely a good 2nd, as Girardi will never be worth more than he is now after last season. Teams see a player who will do anything to get in front of a puck and that's valuable. Meanwhile, we have a few replacements for him so that's why I feel he's expendable. Solves the forward glut and opens cap space for later deals.
I don't get the idea of wanting to bring Tyutin back. You must not remember how awful he was the last year he was here. Let's stop digging up the past and just keep moving forward. I want WW, not some shite ex-NYR.
3 years ago on Could A Wolski/Tyutin Trade Benefit Both New York & Columbus?
Kevin, cheap? Are you kidding? Way too much to pay BB. I'm kind of shocked. What are Dubi and Cally worth, then? Do we have enough cap space to sign both at what should be 4+ mil a year?
3 years ago on Boyle Signs for Three Years | July
I see the top four plus gilly and mdz. and sauer and mcdonagh will have to be split up to pair with gilroy and delzotto. sauer/del zotto and mcdonagh/gilroy maybe.
3 years, 2 months ago on So Who's the 6th & 7th Defensemen? | May
Jack, check out Jess Rubenstein's Prospect Park blog. He covers NYR all over the place. But from what I know, our top goalies in the system are Chad Johnson, Cam Talbot (Hartford), Jason Missean (Hartford) and hopefully soon-to-be signed Scott Stajer, playing for the OHL championship for the Owen Sound Attack. Not much there. Look for us to draft some goalies with later round picks in upcoming draft.
3 years, 3 months ago on Development of Young D Makes McIlrath Pick Questionable | May
idiotic, brooksey. uh, mcilrath was drafted BEFORE sauer and mcdonagh played one game for us, so unless the crystal ball was working overtime, no one could have known we wouldn't need someone like mcilrath. write something when you have something to say.
