Ah, I never noticed it, but great idea linking the "As seen on" buttons to your press page!
Voted, good luck Amy!!
I kind of have my toe stuck into Google Plus but easily get the most traffic from Facebook and Twitter out of all the social media sites. And oddly enough, for the number of followers I have on Google+, it doesn't really make sense! However, I do know that I only use G+ to push out new blog content, and not to chat, like I do on Twitter.
G+ is frustrating and is like a plane that keeps trying to get off the ground. I do know that we have to keep up with our presence on there in case it ever does fly and take over powerhouses fb & twitter... but until then, I'm not sure what to do with it.
The tip for uploading photos with every update is great. Instant highlighting. I will definitely strive to do that!
LOVE the productivity video. Have I suggested the book "The Way We're Working Isn't Working" to you yet? It talks a lot about the 90 minute intense work / break intervals and some other topics touched on in the video.
I just emailed you about this... but the biggest thing that's holding me back from starting a NEW blog is potentially losing the readers from my current blog! Oh, and the design. It's easy for me to design other people's blogs, but when it comes to my own... well, you know.
PS - does aweber allow you to do an automatic newsletter every other week? (Mailchimp doesn't)
Great video as usual, Amy! What really spoke to me was you saying that you need to provide readers with a call to action... Sounds so simple but it can be overlooked so easily. Also, conversion! Now that's a word I didn't think I'd hear again since I worked in retail. Also a great tip. What are other types of conversions to measure besides signing up for newsletters?
@schmittastic Ahhh, good call. Easy fix. Thanks Amy!
I have this camera too. It's interesting that you just pointed back to this article, as I'm finding I am having a hard time using this for videos. Mine seems to go in and out of focus pretty easily. Any tips for fixing this problem?
Ah nice! I have some designing to do :)
@schmittastic Thanks, Amy! It's now on the ol' to do list
Great idea! Chicken or the egg thing - email subscriber first, or signing up to get the free content first? I realize it helps both ways, but which group do you think it attracts the most?
YES. There's nothing wrong with being Renaissance Women / Men. I constantly feel like people shame me for having more than one interest (via their blogging tip blogs). My blog is a smattering of all of my personal interests, and people are always telling me that it's better to have a specific, unique niche, and MAYBE you can branch out to other things like once a month. PSH. That sounds miserable to me. Sure, if I had the time to maintain like 10 niche blogs I would. But who does that?
Although sometimes I do feel like I'm spreading myself too thin, to the point of not being able to master any one thing, that's just how it is. And that's how it will be until I give up working full time and pursue my dreams, or whatever you want to call it.
I swear by RSS feeds. So says the girl who came across your article via the RSS subscription, viewing it on Newsify on her iPad. ps...Newsify ROCKS for both iPad and iPhone. It's my favorite RSS reader by far.
I love how glossy this is - and the subtle shimmer is gorgeous!
@schmittastic Ah yes, makes total sense. Thank you!
I would love to be able to get up right at 5 and work til 9; that would work best for me, too. But, I unfortunately need to start getting ready for work-work at 6:30. Maybe someday... ;)
@schmittastic for sure on all points - I think what's holding me back mostly is the fact that I did a calendar once before but got overwhelmed really quickly and then scheduled posts went by the wayside. I need to figure out a way to do it, even if I just schedule every other day. What are your thoughts on that?
And do tell more about the 5am club. What time do you get to bed?
NO way. "Editorial calendar (per savvysexysocial)" has been #1 on my to-do list for several months now. I actually have my scribbly post idea notebook and calendars with me today so I can hopefully work on it during lunch. It's hard to find the time between wanting to just write a post vs planning, but I know that long term planning will benefit me and my readers tenfold. I just need like 2 more hours in a day, that's all. Is that too much to ask?
I found it, thanks! I can't believe I didn't know about that before. @schmittastic
I am headed over to Facebook right now to see if I can do a mailchimp app plugin on my page!
I love this shoot the schmitt idea, so great! I'm going to have to figure out what you guys were talking about with Pinterest and embedding.
