@I Am PFP And So Can You @Hoze @Local Energy Drink Distributor I dont really know.. with no objective backing I think he will produce about as well as he did last year, given his age. He is presumably reduced to a backup role now, so the issue shouldnt matter as much
@Local Energy Drink Distributor parting with Ethier, League, Ellis are on my wishlist. They are also appropriately ranked in descending order of priority.
@Local Energy Drink Distributor Im ok with that belief, but people outside of the organization have to buy into it
1- a line drive that went far
2- a line drive that went far and over the fence
3- a fly ball that went far

while each not being terrible options, collectively it doesnt scream competitive

@BlueMarvin (Not Freaking Out) @Iron Man Returns denying that acquiring pitchers with extensive medical history is a strategy doesnt necessarily exclude the possibility that interest in these pitchers was significantly based on their questionable health. I dont think the FO will confirm anything that resembles their actual roster development strategy.
+ simultaneously alleviating the OF situation & reducing guaranteed contracts
+ adding at the fringes
+ investing in low risk, high reward players
+ decisions made by statistically-minded management
+ bolstered scouting department
+ commitment to expand pitching biomechanics research
+ $$$ to make further adjustments in season
that's pretty sexy as well

@Dustin Nosler if you were to come up with a scenario where the roster faces a significant change near the trading deadline, what may it be?
for example, suppose (and its a bit of a stretch) that if Beachy, Withrow return healthy/ effective and Anderson + McCarthy are pitching just as well. Would it be likely that the pitching staff is affected in a significant way near the deadline?
1 week ago on Dustin McGowan Might Be A Dodger, Maybe
@DINGERS! Body Cellinger
@PagansOedipalComplex @Mike Petriello Gimi Yarcia
@Montgomery Burns money transformed to depth. Its likely a sunk cost, but theres a nonzero chance that Beachy provides value. Since the risk is only financial, Id say the move is a positive.

@capnsparrow @Hoze @Dustin Nosler yes, he could be. Id like some objective info behind that stance.

@Dustin Nosler KAHTO (http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/katohs-top-200-prospect-list/) ranks Schebler and de Leon pretty high along with the guys above but Anderson. Why would Anderson be ranked higher than those two players?
@Jeremy_N @Hoze looks like 22, but I could be wrong
@Jeremy_N Kershaw and Bedard?
@Raul Franklin closer to Phillips
@Montgomery Burns Deal arent always going to work out, but the Dodgers look to be wiling to incur high (relative term that may not apply so much to this team) financial loses in order to marginally improve on the field.
1 week, 3 days ago on Can the Dodgers sign both Hector Olivera and Yoan Moncada?
@Purple Drank which is completely fine, but I'm hoping that they can find a replacement via a trade, given that it is of reasonable cost. Someone like Qualls (amazing FIP and GB% last year) would be great to target.
@PagansOedipalComplex Dominic Leone *edit: probably no comparison other than has limited relief experience in the majors*
1 week, 5 days ago on Closer Kenley Jansen out 8-12 weeks after surgery on left foot
hypothetical, but if the team looks to trade for a a reliever, would acquiring Chad Qualls be possible/adequate?
It seems very likely that the one of the AA players will be replacing Jansen's spot fir as long as he's out. Is it even worth it for the team to look towards FA (looks ugly) or other teams' bullpens?

4 weeks, 1 day ago on 2014 Dodgers In Review: RP Paco Rodriguez
since Im reading the BP Annual at the moment, Paco's 2015 PECOTA looks good: 41 IP, 2.89 FIP, 0.9 WAR. STEAMER doesnt project as kindly: 30 IP, 3.22, 0 WAR. Anywhere between these figures would be really good production.

@Casey the DeliMan @666foldamort If anyone wants to make a league, Ill play as well.

Just read the intro to the Diamondbacks for the BP Annual. 2/3 of it is about the disastrous moves ofn/off the field (hysterical) and the rest talks about the positive qualities of the team to look forward to mainly Goldschmidt + young pitching. A great start to the book.
@TheConman he's lost 15lbs from his October weight from workouts. Ill take that as a positive sign that his work ethic will help reverse the trend.
@BlueDuck @Dustin Nosler 9th in MiLB WAR doesnt cut it
@peetato @tpmerrill high GB/FB & LD/FB correlating with high BABIP maybe.

@Purple Drank @Hoze yeah, playing time is a factor. I think I head that he was using Steamer projections to make his rankings, but as an example Steamer projects Perez at 1.6 Off over 113gms while projects Grandal at 5 over 106 gms. I dont understand going high with *Perez and not Grandal if Steamer is your main projection system.
