Did HailO really get exclusive rights with Yellow cabs in NYC? Is that the biggest reason UberTAXI in NYC was killed?

@zachbussey A bottle usually runs from $65 - $100. Pretty much on par with single malt scotches. Taboo is no longer available to buy in Ontario, but the last couple of bottles were purchased by Insomnia. I also have one bottle that I'm saving.

I drink a good amount of absinthe. You can try a version pretty close to the real thing at insomnia Cafe on Bloor and Bathurst. It's called "Taboo" Absinthe. It'll cost you, though.

As far as for the hallucinogenic properties of absinthe, much of those stories are fabrications by the Temperance movement, who were vintners trying (and succeeding) to prohibit absinthe because, at its height in France, people were drinking more absinthe than wine. That was a threat to their businesses.

There is a hallucinogenic in the wormwood ingredient present in all absinthe, but it's less than 10 parts per millionth, so you'd have to drink a lot of absinthe to feel those effects. Verified reports of narcotic effects coming from absinthe use are almost always a result of the similar, less anise flavored (and less tasty), spirit, "absinth" (with no "e") made mostly in the Czech Republic, which is often adulterated after the distillation process with sage oil, which is high in the same hallucinogenic in wormwood, called Thujone.

I wonder if Quora has the power to put the kibosh on Formspring or if Formspring enjoys the anonymity principle which encourages random users to ask asinine questions.
